
President Donald Trump blasted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and demanded “serious action” be taken after his threat to Supreme Court Justices.
The president tweeted that the New York Democrat should “pay a severe price” after his incendiary comments Wednesday about Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity that it was “a disgrace to the Supreme Court and to the U.S. Senate.”

“There can be few things worse in a civilized, law-abiding nation, than a United States Senator openly, and for all to see and hear, threatening the Supreme Court or its Justices. This is what Chuck Schumer just did. He must pay a severe price for this!” Trump tweeted Wednesday, hours after Schumer’s controversial remarks at a pro-choice demonstration outside of the Supreme Court.

“As far as Schumer is concerned, it was a terrible thing he said. I was amazed by it and if that were a Republican you would see really bad things happening,” the president said in a phone interview on “Hannity. “It is very unequal justice, and it is a disgrace that he was able to say something like that.”
As the high court heard June Medical Services v. Russo, a Louisiana case on restricting abortion, a pro-choice rally gathered outside. Schumer addressed the crowd in a speech, warning the Justices against taking away “fundamental rights” on abortion.
“I want to tell you Gorsuch, and I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price! You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions,” he said.

The Democrat leader’s words prompted a rare public rebuke from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts who called them out as “dangerous” and “threatening statements.”
“Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous,” Roberts said in a statement.
A spokesman for Schumer did not offer an apology from the lawmaker but doubled down on the alleged bias of the conservative Justices appointed by Trump, pointing to the president’s own remarks last week when he called for Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg to recuse themselves from cases that were related to him and his administration.
Of course, there was no admission that Sotomayor prompted Trump’s criticism when she basically accused her conservative colleagues on the Court of being biased toward the administration, and no acknowledgment of the false equivalency as the president did not threaten the Justices in front of a protesting crowd.
Trump slammed Schumer’s comments earlier Wednesday as a “direct and dangerous threat” to the Court.

“If a Republican did this, he or she would be arrested, or impeached,” the president noted in his tweet.
Schumer continued to come under fire for his remarks as many on Twitter called out the left’s double standards.
“As a fun exercise, envision Trump making this kind of comment about Ginsberg and Kagan. Then envision the self-righteousness and condemnation by some in political media…,” The Hill’s Joe Concha tweeted.
“Schumer threatens two Supreme Court justices and the media yawns. Trump calls out #FakeNews and they accuse him of ‘dangerous rhetoric,'” Fox News host Laura Ingraham tweeted.
