President Donald Trump made his first official trip to India where he and first lady Melania Trump were enthusiastically greeted from the moment they arrived.
The president expressed his gratitude for the “spectacular welcome” during his speech at a cricket stadium in Ahmadabad where he spoke before an amazing crowd of more than 110,000 people.

“America will always be faithful and loyal friends to the Indian people,” Trump said at the”Namaste Trump” rally where he announced to the people of India a $3 billion deal to send state-of-the-art military helicopters to the country.
“I am pleased to announce that tomorrow our representatives will sign deals to sell over $3 billion in the absolute finest state of the art military helicopters and other equipment to the Indian armed forces,” Trump said at the Sardar Patel Stadium.

The president and first lady were met at the airport by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who warmly embraced him and walked down a red carpet rolled out for the occasion.
Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner were also at the airport.

Mrs. Trump was celebrated by British columnist Katie Hopkins who noted the stark difference between the Trumps’ visit to India and that of Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose 2018 disastrous trip was marked by major fashion blunders.

Cheering crowds waving American flags greeted the president’s motorcade in Ahmedabad, with billboards showing off images of him and the first lady.
The Trumps visited Sabarmati Ashram, the former home of India’s Mahatma Gandhi.
Trump was met by a “camelcade” near the entrance to the stadium where camels flanked the way in, according to Fox News.

At the stadium, the president’s appearance was anticipated by a massive crowd.
Social media accounts for the country’s political party, India officials and news outlets documented the eye-popping crowd gathered inside the largest cricket stadium in the world.

“Macho Man” by the Village People was played before Modi and Trump came out on the stage, holding up each other’s arms.
Modi, who was welcomed by Trump with the “Howdy Modi” event held in Houston last September, introduced the president in his speech as a great friend to India and himself.

Trump told the crowd he and the first lady traveled 8,000 miles to deliver a message to the people of India, thanking Modi for the “stunning display of India’s culture and kindness.”

His references to India’s cultural achievements received cheers from the crowds.

The president’s trip will include a stop in New Delhi on Tuesday where he is scheduled to take part in ceremonial events and meet with U.S. embassy staffers.
