Senator Ted Cruz scored kudos from conservatives after mimicking Nancy Pelosi’s derisive seal clap from the 2019 State of the Union address.
In the viral video, Cruz appears to congratulate Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell after Senate Republicans voted down the Democrats’ motion to call additional witnesses.
Keep in mind that during the impeachment of the Democrat-controlled House, the Democrats called 18 witnesses but did not allow Republicans to cross-examine them or even call a single witness of their own.
In a 51-49 vote Friday, the GOP senators successfully blocked the Democrats’ efforts to extend the sham impeachment trial. The vote moves the Senate closer to acquitting President Trump.
During a recess after the vote, Cruz cheerfully talked to Senators Mitch McConnell, John Barrasso, John Cornyn, and Lamar Alexander — who voted at the last minute with the GOP.

Twitter immediately reacted to Ted Cruz’s hilarious diss of Nancy Pelosi‘s condescending seal clap from the 2019 SOTU address.
At the time, Pelosi was celebrated by Twitter leftists for doing what many characterized as a “f*ck-you clap” when President Trump slammed Democrats’ continued obstructionism.
“We must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution, and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good,” Trump said.
That’s when Pelosi responded with this shady seal clap after fixing her loose dentures:

Hours after the Senate voted down the Democrats, Senator Cruz told Fox News host Sean Hannity that the impeachment con game is effectively over.
“The last 24 hours were pivotal,” Cruz said. “For all intents and purposes, this impeachment trial is over. The vote we had today — not to extend the trial, not to have yet more additional witnesses — [means acquittal is near]. We already had 18 witnesses testify in the House. We’ve seen thousands of pages of documents, and throughout all of it, the House managers never proved their case.”
Cruz said the Democrats’ sloppy, rushed impeachment was merely another deranged gambit to damage President Trump during an election year.
“Their strategy was just to [try] a Hail Mary,” Cruz pointed out. “They haven’t proven their case. Their only hope was to bring additional witnesses, drag it out weeks or months and go on a fishing expedition, hoping that someone would say something that would give them some basis for impeachment.”

Cruz — a Harvard Law School alum — who has argued nine cases before the U.S. Supreme Court — said the Senate did the right thing in voting down the Democrats’ shameless delay tactic.
“The Constitution says that the only grounds for impeachment are treason, bribery or other ‘high crimes and misdemeanors.’ The Constitutional threshold requires a grave, serious crime. House managers didn’t even try to allege a crime. And they certainly didn’t prove one.”
Cruz said: “Today, we’re holding 51 in the majority to say we’re done [with this sham], it’s over. That means we’re headed straight to Wednesday afternoon, a vote on final judgment. The President is going to be acquitted of these charges. As he should be.”
