Republican Senator Ted Cruz blasted Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar over a racist tweet suggesting that Latinos would never make up the cut under a merit-based immigration system.
Somali refugee Ilhan Omar: Latinos don’t measure up
Omar tweeted: “A ‘merit-based’ immigration policy is fueled by racism towards the Latinx community. Our immigration policies shouldn’t be based on discrimination, fear, or bigotry. We should welcome immigrants to our country and offer a simple way to citizenship.”
In her condescending, patronizing, racist tweet, Omar suggested that Latinos are too stupid and unskilled to qualify for admission based on merit. Amid heavy backlash, Omar deleted the tweet.
Ted Cruz to Ilhan Omar: Get over yourself
Ted Cruz — the son of Cuban immigrants — was among the first to torch Omar. He also slammed the Democratic Party, whose main talking point is that a merit-based immigration system is racist.
When you think about their objections, it’s clear that Dems are the real racists — because they’re saying certain minorities are too dumb and unskilled to make the cut.
Cruz tweeted: “As the son of a Cuban immigrant whose Dad came to get a math degree and become a computer programmer, I’m troubled that Dems seem to believe Hispanic immigrants can’t qualify for skills-based legal immigration. Bringing in more scientists, engineers and doctors is good for US jobs.”
Senator Cruz is an attorney who graduated from Princeton and Harvard Law School. He is an accomplished lawyer who has argued nine cases before the United States Supreme Court. Arguing before SCOTUS is an extremely prestigious honor for any attorney.
In contrast to Cruz’s computer-scientist dad, the Somali-born Ilhan Omar was an uneducated, unskilled refugee whom the United States rescued from a refugee camp.
Between the two of them, it’s clear that Ted Cruz’s father would have made the cut under a merit-based system, while Omar would not have.

Omar ‘was sounding might racist’
“So Ms. Smarty Pants @Ilhan Omar deleted her tweet, cuz she finally realized that in accusing the President of raaaaaaaaaaacism, she was sounding mighty raaaaaaaaaacist herself.”

Trump wants to prioritize high-skilled immigrants
As BizPac Review reported, President Trump proposed a merit-based immigration system that prioritizes high-skilled workers and requires immigrants to pass a civics test before entering the US. They must also learn English and not become a long-term financial burden to American taxpayers.
Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom all have merit-based immigration systems. Why shouldn’t the United States? No one is calling them racist for wanting to select the cream of the crop to enter their countries.
After decades of letting unskilled immigrants leech off (rather than contribute) to the U.S. economy, President Trump set new parameters that would bolster the economy and help all Americans.
New plan would limit chain migration
Currently, 66% of immigrants are admitted based on family connections, while only 12% are admitted based on employment and skills.
The new plan would limit endless chain migration and end the visa lottery program so that:
- 57% would be admitted based on employment and skills.
- 33% would be admitted based on family connections.
- 10% of immigrants would be admitted based on humanitarian grounds.
- Diversity visa lottery program would end.
Sayfullo Saipov — the Islamist terrorist who attacked New York on Halloween Day 2017 — entered the U.S. through a “diversity visa program” championed by Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer and ex-president Barack Obama. The terrorist attack resulted in the murders of eight people.
Naturally, people like Ilhan Omar oppose the merit-based immigration system, presumably because she would never have made the cut if such a system had been in place when a Christian church sponsored the sharia advocate — just so she could come to the United States and b*tch about it incessantly.
