The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn launched a sweeping criminal investigation into at least six major pharmaceutical companies for their alleged roles in promoting the alarming opioid epidemic ravaging the United States.
According to the companies’ federal filings, prosecutors issued grand jury subpoenas to:
- Johnson & Johnson
- Teva Pharmaceuticals
- Amneal Pharmaceuticals
- McKesson Corp.
Teva Pharmaceuticals revealed in a federal filing that it was subpoenaed by federal prosecutors “as part of a broader investigation into manufacturers’ and distributors’ monitoring programs and reporting under the Controlled Substances Act.”
Teva is the largest generic drug manufacturer in the world whose 2018 revenues topped $18.8 billion.
As it is, the companies are already being sued by both state and local governments, which accuse them of contributing to the opioid epidemic by selling drugs they knew were dangerous and addictive.
More than 130 people die every day in the United States die after overdosing on opioids, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
While targeting drug manufacturers sounds logical, experts say the best way to stem the opioid epidemic is to build a border wall and curb mass illegal immigration.
Mark Morgan — the acting commissioner of Customs and Border Patrol — has repeatedly noted that most of the illegal opioids killing Americans comes across our porous, unsecured borders.

“Transnational criminal organizations don’t just exploit the migrants themselves, they also flood our country with dangerous drugs,” Morgan said on Nov. 14.
“Last year, CBP officers and Border Patrol agents seized more than 750,000 pounds of illicit narcotics. And our Air and Marine Operations contributed to the seizure of additional 285,000 pounds of cocaine.
Seizures of the four hard narcotics — heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl — all went up last year. Last year, over 68,000 deaths in this country were due to illicit narcotic use.
And methamphetamine has seen a resurgence in this country. Superlabs in Mexico are taking over the production and flooding the United States with cheaper and purer forms of meth.
And here’s a couple of stats that should shock every American: We seized over 9,700 pounds of methamphetamine. That’s up over 90% the same time last year. We seized 284 pounds of fentanyl in this month alone — an 84% increase from this time last year.”
These chilling statistics have spiked dramatically because the Democratic Party and their media minions continue to promote mass illegal immigration and oppose a border wall.
In January 2019, Mark Morgan told Tucker Carlson that drug-trafficking MS-13 gang members laugh at how easy it is to sneak across the porous US-Mexico border.
“Congress could fix this [border crisis] in 5 minutes if they wanted to,” Morgan said. “Before I was the chief of Border Patrol, I was with the FBI. And I actually supervised the MS-13 gang force in Southern California.”
Morgan continued: “We used to catch them on surveillance wires and MS-13 gang members would laugh at how easy it was to go back between the Mexico and U.S. border.”
