Lou Dobbs, panel guests say ‘just a clerk’ Vindman should get fired: ‘He looks delusional’

Fox Business host Lou Dobbs and several of his guests slammed Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman over his “arrogant” testimony in the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Trump.

Dobbs criticized the National Security Council official and Ukraine expert for his closed-door testimony Tuesday before the House Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight committees, calling out his remarks and “chilling” opening statement during his “Lou Dobbs Tonight” broadcast.

Speaking with former Sr. Adviser to Ronald Reagan, Ed Rollins, Dobbs read from Vindman’s “mind-boggling” opening statement, deriding the implication that he had “superior opinion and judgment” on national security compared to President Trump.

“What you are seeing and hearing there is a reference to the deep state, to the permanent bureaucracy, and a lieutenant colonel who obviously believes he has a superior judgment to the President of the United States!” Dobbs said, calling the remarks “chilling.”

Rollins agreed, blasting the White House official who emigrated to the U.S. from Ukraine in 1979 with his parents when he was three years old.

“He’s assigned to the White House not to be a Ukrainian expert. He’s a clerk,” Rollins, who served in the administrations and advised four U.S. presidents, said.

“The State Department and the Defense Department basically run the policy at the president’s direction. You don’t have to read very far into the Constitution to see the president conducts foreign affairs,” he explained. “This guy’s responsibility is to service the president by pulling the papers together…he doesn’t make policy.”

Rollins found it “ridiculous” that Vindman would “make a judgment on national security” and indicate that he valued his own judgment over that of the president. He also noted that the large numbers of people employed by the White House lose credibility if they cannot be trusted with confidentiality as they do their jobs.

“What I would do if I were this president tonight…this guy’s box would be at the Pentagon parking lot,” Rollins said of Vindman, adding that he should be “out of the White House.”

Later in his show, Dobbs spoke with Fox Business contributor Sara Carter and Heritage Foundation Senior Legal Fellow Hans von Spakovsky who dismissed the need for Vindman’s testimony.

“Who cares what he heard when we have the actual transcript of what was said?” von Spakovsky noted, adding that Vindman disagreeing with Trump’s foreign policy is “not his place to do as an army officer.”

Dobbs slammed the Democrats and their “radical” conference that “doesn’t care what they do to this poor lieutenant colonel.”

“For all the world right now, he looks delusional to be talking about the monolith, the intra-agency of the federal government as if it had some sort of constitutional role, which it does not,” he said.

Carter noted that Vindman’s statement seems to confirm that people are “actively spying and listening to President Trump.”

She asserted that “this is not respecting the commander-in-chief” and the Ukraine call transcript clearly showed there was no quid pro quo in Trump’s July call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. But the fact that anyone was actively listening in order to get something to use against Trump showed there was some kind of motivation, Carter argued.

“Prior to 2016, Lou, the Democrats, as well as those former senior Obama officials that have been targeting President Trump, are continuing to target him and they are looking for anything and everything. It’s as if President Trump has a police officer following him illegally… everywhere he goes just trying to find him doing anything, anything at all that they can try to pin on him,” Carter said.

“I think that he should actually be removed if he has not been removed already,” she said of Vindman.

“The president should clean out the NSC and clean out the White House of people that he suspects are working for the people that had formerly been in office,” Carter added, noting that “this bureaucracy is out of control.”
