Omar smears Tucker as a ‘racist fool’ after he dared criticize her … in a way that had nothing to do with race

Rep. Ilhan Omar ripped Fox News host Tucker Carlson as a “racist fool” after he called her out as an example of why the current American immigration system is “dangerous.”

The Minnesota Democrat slammed Carlson on Twitter, claiming that nothing would “stamp out” her love for this country following his critique of the Somali refugee turned lawmaker.

“Not gonna lie, it’s kinda fun watching a racist fool like this weeping about my presence in Congress,” she wrote Tuesday, reacting to another tweet calling Carlson’s segment an “absolutely stunning racist attack” against Omar, although the Fox News host never mentioned race in his comments.

“No lies will stamp out my love for this country or my resolve to make our union more perfect,” she added. “They will just have to get used to calling me Congresswoman!”

Carlson took aim at the freshman congresswoman and one of the first two Muslim women in the House of Representatives during “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Tuesday.

“Omar is now at the age of only 36, one of the most powerful women in America,” Carlson said after an overview of her life story from living in a Kenyan refugee camp to moving to the U.S. as a child.

“Ilhan Omar has an awful lot to be grateful for, but she isn’t grateful, not at all,” he said. “After everything America has done for Omar and for her family, she hates this country more than ever.”

Carlson pointed to a recent story on Omar in  The Washington Post, saying it showed that she was “enraged” by America as she did not accept the premise that America is a “bighearted country that saved her from a brutal war and oblique refugee camp.”

“Omar isn’t disappointed in America. She’s enraged by it,” Carlson said. “That should worry you, and not just because Omar is a sitting member of Congress. Ilhan Omar is living proof that the way we practice immigration has become dangerous to this country.”

The topic is not new for Carlson who previously called out the progressive congresswoman as “a symbol of America’s failed immigration system.”

The Fox News host went on to point to the current immigration system in the U.S. is now “undermining” the nation  since “some of the very people we try hardest to help have come to hate us passionately.”

“Maybe that is our fault for asking too little of our immigrants. We aren’t self-confident enough to make them assimilate so they never feel fully American. Or maybe the problem is deeper than that. Maybe we are importing people from places who are simply antithetical to ours,” Carlson said.

“Who knows what the problem is but there is a problem and whatever that cause, this cannot continue. It’s not sustainable. No country can import large numbers of people who hate it and expect to survive,” he warned. “The Romans were the last to try that with predictable results.”

“So, be grateful for Ilhan Omar, annoying as she is,” Carlson concluded. “She’s a living fire alarm, a warning to the rest of us that we better change our immigration system immediately, or else.”

A Muslim civil rights group defended Omar against Carlson’s “anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant rhetoric” on Tuesday.

“These remarks are part of a clear pattern of racism, sexism and white nationalism that Carlson has long championed,” Scott Simpson, public advocacy director of Muslim Advocates, said in a statement, claiming that the Fox News host “repeated one false, anti-Muslim trope after another about Omar.”

“This is not a critique of Omar’s ideas or politic,” Simpson said. “This is hate speech directed at her as a Muslim and as an immigrant. Attacks on mosques and hate crimes against Muslims have skyrocketed in recent years and these bigoted tropes contribute to a toxic culture where divisiveness and racism trump American values of religious freedom for all people.”

Simpson further called on Fox News to fire Carlson and for advertisers to “stop funding this bigotry.”

CNN’s “New Day” also got in on the pile-up, attacking Carlson for making a “flat-out racist comment” in his critique of Omar.

CNN anchor John Berman claimed that Carlson “flat out said that a sitting member of the U.S. Congress should never have been allowed in the United States.”

John Avlon actually claimed the Carlson segment showed that the “racial animus that appears to be there,” while anchor Alisyn Camerota warned, “when you rile people up, it gets dangerous.”

Carlson fired back at Omar on Wednesday, addressing her claims of racism and the effort to get him fired. He also took viewers on a trip through some of the Democrat’s more extreme views.

“No country can survive being ruled by people who hate it. We deserve better. For all of our country’s flaws, this is still the best place in the world. Most immigrants know that. That’s why they come here,” the Fox News host said on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday.

“Ilhan Omar and her allies in congress immediately demanded that this show be pulled off the air. They didn’t rebut our points, or even acknowledge them. They just tried to silence us. That’s how they operate. And of course they called us racist,” he said, adding that the charge was “absurd.”

Omar’s social media attack on Carlson’s segment was ultimately slammed by Twitter users who called her out for claiming she loves America while regularly disrespecting the country that welcomed her as a child.
