Iran’s general taunts Trump with callous 9/11 joke amid escalating fears of war

A top Iranian military official mocked the United States and the Trump administration by making a tasteless jab about 9/11, as tensions escalate between Iran and the U.S.

General Hossein Salami — the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard — says the United States is decrepit and lacks military strength.

“The [US political] system has an apparently huge body, but suffers from osteoporosis,” Revolutionary Guard head Gen. Hossein Salami told the Fars news agency. “In fact, the US is like the World Trade Building, that collapses with a sudden hit.”

Flashback: Do you know who else trivializes 9/11? Democrat Ilhan Omar. Birds of a sharia feather flock together.

Trump to Iran: We don’t want war, but do not test us

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif has publicly stated that Iran is “not seeking war” with the United States.

But to make sure that Iran understands that its ego is writing checks that its body can’t cash, President Trump recently sent bombers and warships to the Middle East to let Iran know that the US is ready to rumble.

National Security Adviser John Bolton — a saber-rattling hawk who has been dying to go to war with Iran for years — warned the Islamic republic to calm the hell down. Or face the consequences.

“The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces,” Bolton said last week.

US should not get involved in another pointless Mideast war

Despite all this trash-talking, President Trump and his supporters do not want to get the US involved in yet another pointless, expensive war in the Middle East. The US has been at war in Afghanistan since 2001, and all we have to show for it is wasted tax dollars and dead American soldiers.

“What I’d like to see with Iran is I’d like to see them call me,” Trump said last week.

If Iranian military leaders sound unusually emboldened, it’s probably because Iran has increased its defense budget 145% under President Hassan Rouhani and is using the billions of dollars that were unfrozen under Barack Obama’s disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal to build up its weapons stockpile.

So basically, Obama gave Iran fistfuls of cash to build a massive army to annihilate us.

Iran is building up its military with Obama’s cash infusion

In April 2017, Iranian military leaders bragged to local newspapers that the Islamic Republic’s army was being fortified into an “offensive juggernaut.”

Under the disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal pushed by Obama, Iran — the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world — promised never to acquire nuclear weapons.

In the lopsided agreement, Obama lifted economic sanctions that had crippled Iran financially for decades, unfroze $150 billion in assets, and gave Iran $400 million in cash.

Ex-Obama aides: Obama’s wimpiness made world more dangerous

Michael Rubin — a former Pentagon adviser — isn’t surprised that Iran played the United States for fools under Obama. Rubin said this is exactly what Iran did between 1998 and 2005 when it profited from a lucrative trade deal with the European Union.

“Obama and Kerry might as well have wired the money directly into the accounts of those seeking to enhance Iran’s military, kill Sunnis, or sponsor terrorism,” Rubin said. Another Pentagon insider agreed:

“An Iranian military buildup coupled with an offensive posture is a threat to the United States and our allies. This also serves as an important reminder of why the Obama administration’s cash infusion to Iran was so dangerous.”

These kinds of horrible decisions are precisely why former Obama officials say his wimpiness against foreign adversaries left the world a more dangerous place.

“Obama had the capability, but not the will [to retaliate against our enemies],” said Barry Pavel, a former senior director on the National Security Council. “Obama left a more dangerous world.”
