‘Pawns for the president’: Lewandowski buries CNN’s Cuomo in facts when he takes a swipe at FOX News

The hosts at CNN, the ratings-starved, leftist “news” network that spent years shilling for then-President Barack Hussein Obama and later for then-Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, believes that Fox News is “state TV.”

Their evidence is a New Yorker piece that relies on quotes from far-left academics and anonymous sources to accuse Fox News of, among other things, sharing debate questions with Trump during the election three years ago and defending his every policy position.

Listen to CNN host Chris Cuomo, a man known for defending any and every left-wing group, even those that commit vicious acts of violence, touting this very point Monday evening to the president’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski:

“The big story in the New Yorker to me is not news. Great reporting. Great reporting but not news. This TV outlet, state TV as I call them, Fox in primetime, they say, the president does,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like it. That’s why I say Sean Hannity — never seen power like that in the media. The president does what he says. Are you worried about that?”

The New Yorker piece argued that Fox News host Sean Hannity’s close relationship with Trump is unnatural. Never mind the close relationship nearly every left-wing media host and personality has with Democrat Party members. Just last month CNN national political reporter Maeve Reston helped Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris select her wardrobe:

Neither Cuomo nor CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter — whose daily newsletters read like Democrat Party propaganda leaflets — have had anything to say about this.

Lewandowski replied to Cuomo’s accusations Monday by pointing to numerous examples from the past of media figures holding ties of one sort or another to the administration in power.

Case in point: In 2013 it was learned that then-CBS News President David Rhodes and then-ABC News President Ben Sherwood both had siblings with high positions within the Obama administration. Moreover, their siblings both worked in the National Security Council on foreign policy issues directly related to the Benghazi terror attack. Now recall how outlets such as CBS and ABC routinely ignored the then GOP-led Congress’s investigation into Benghazi. Hmm.

Lewandowski also rightly noted that Trump “has been more accessible to the media than any president in modern history.”

“That’s poppycock,” Cuomo replied. “He won’t even come on CNN. He only goes where he gets a pat on the back.”

Cuomo was lying, which wasn’t surprising given as CNN hosts often lie.

First, the Trump administration has been significantly more friendly to the media than the Obama administration. Even The Washington Post has admitted that Obama’s administration was “one of the most secretive” in American history.

Meanwhile, Trump’s treatment of the press has been far more Democratic, according to The New York Times White House correspondent Glenn Thrush.

“When Obama had press conferences, he had a single piece of white paper and he had six or seven organizations that he had preselected to call upon, and a lot of them were pretty favorable to him, too,” he said at a panel two years ago. “I think Trump’s free-ranging press conferences are a lot more democratic than the way that Obama conducted.”

Moreover, Trump has sat for interviews with plenty of demonstrably left-wing news networks, including CBS. The only reason he’s avoided CNN is likely because of the network’s extreme bias.

Cuomo, of course, dismissed all this evidence. He also shrugged his shoulders in indifference when Lewandowski pointed to a number of Fox News figures who are critical of Trump, including Shepard Smith, Chris Wallace, Neil Cavuto, Judge Andrew Napolitano, etc.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

“You’re picking individuals to make a case against the general from a management perspective. … But in primetime TV and from a management perspective, they are pawns for this president, and you know it. And … now you find out Fox gave debate questions to Donald Trump.”

There’s no verifiable evidence to prove that Fox News ever provided the president with debate questions in advance. There is however evidence that CNN gave Clinton questions during the Democrat primary debates in 2015 and 2016.

“Fox News did not give us one question. That’s a fact. The reporter is wrong. The report goes on to say that Sean Hannity and Bill Shine, their kids are each others God parents or whatever. That’s also not true. So let’s not take every word that’s in the New Yorker to be factually accurate.”

It’s also wise to not take every word spouted by a CNN host to be factually accurate

“We’ve seen it on the other side,” Lewandowski continued, taking aim at the left-wing media’s lack of conservative voices. “Look at the hatred and vitriol at MSNBC every night. They have made their living and their network the ‘I Hate Donald Trump’ network. That’s a fact. Their prime-time anchors all hate Donald Trump. They don’t have conservatives on.”

True. Though in fairness to MSNBC, the network readily identifies as far-left.

“Who’s the Democrat in primetime over there?” Cuomo replied.

Fox’s primetime hosts, especially Tucker Carlson, regularly feature radically far-left guests.

Instead of noting this point, for some reason Lewandowski argued that every network leans a certain way for ratings: “Networks choose to do it for ratings is what they do. MSNBC, CNN, they all do it. It’s just Fox does it on the conservative side to be a balance.”

“You have to have both sides,” Cuomo said in conclusion of his fact-free rant. “That’s why I have you here. I have the left here. Maybe that’s why I don’t rate [well]. I should pick a side like everybody else.”

The idea that Cuomo hasn’t picked sides is laughably inaccurate, but so is much of what’s recorded at CNN, a network that can’t even distinguish men from women.
