The Democrat Party’s radicalism knows no bounds.
In a stunning interview Thursday, potential 2020 Democrat presidential contender and failed Senate nominee Robert ‘Beto’ O’Rourke suggested he’d tear down the walls that currently line the southern U.S. border, starting with the wall in El Paso, Texas.
He made the admission when asked by MSNBC host Chris Hayes to answer the following question posed earlier in the week by congressman Dan Crenshaw:

“Absolutely, I’d take the wall down,” O’Rourke replied with alacrity.
“Here’s what we know. After the Secure Fence Act [of 2006], we have built 600 miles of wall and fencing on a 2,000-mile border. What that has done is not in any demonstrable way made us safer. It’s cost us tens of billions of dollars to build and maintain.”
As the data shared by Crenshaw demonstrates, the walls and fencing that have been erected along the border have reduced illegal border crossings by a notable degree.
Numerous current and former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have confirmed this.

While claiming the wall hasn’t made El Paso safer, he admitted that it has been a huge deterrent to illegal crossings. His inadvertent acknowledgment was not lost on many including Fox News host Brit Hume:

“And it’s pushed migrants and asylum seekers and refugees to the most inhospitable, the most hostile stretches of the U.S.-Mexico border, ensuring their suffering and death,” O’Rourke continued.
“More than 4,000 human beings, little kids, women and children, have died. They’re not in cages, they’re not locked up, they’re not separated — they’re dead, over the last 10 years, as we have walled off their opportunity to legally petition for asylum, to cross in urban centers like El Paso, to be with family, to work jobs, to do what any human being should have a right to be able to do, what we would do if faced with the same circumstances they were.”
Wrong again. The southern border contains dozens of ports of entry where migrants may legally apply for asylum. Yet instead of going through the process the proper way, many migrants continue to try and cross the border illegally. Why? Possibly because they know full-well that their claims of asylum are fraudulent — that the real reason they want entry into the U.S. is because they want jobs. FYI, the United States is not a temp agency for the world’s unemployed men and women.
Spurred by economic reasons and buoyed by the Democrats’ promises of guaranteed jobs, subsidized housing, free healthcare and a million+ other goodies, nearly 2000 migrants illegally cross into the United States every single day. Were America to go totally open borders, as Democrats like O’Rourke clearly desire, these numbers would most likely skyrocket.
In fact, a recent Gallup poll found that a a whopping 42 million of the 450 million adults who inhabit Latin America and the Caribbean would like to relocate to the United States.
And given that many of these 42 million adults likely have children, this means there are anywhere from 100 to 200 million people in Latin America hoping to one day resettle in the states, be it by claiming asylum or simply sneaking across the unsecured southern U.S. border.

The recent poll by Gallup found that of the 42 million adults in Latin America who aspire to set up shop here, a remarkable five million “are planning to move in the next 12 months.”
In the left-wing utopia envisioned by O’Rourke, these millions of Latin Americans would be welcomed at the wall-less border with open arms and then encouraged to melt into U.S. society, where they could then tap into and drain America’s already beleaguered social safety net.
If you share this vision, then by all means vote for him. If not, feel free to join the loud crowd of critics who’ve taken to Twitter to point out just how radical the Democrat Party has become.
