Texas GOP scorches Beto O’Rourke with some damning tweets exposing his ‘hazy’ past

Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s chances of unseating veteran Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, whom he’s currently running against in the Texas Senate race, keep slipping lower thanks to his own stupidity and cowardice.

For instance, this week O’Rourke sheepishly backed out of a planned Aug. 31 debate against Cruz, reportedly saying, “Friday in Dallas is not going to happen, but I’m convinced we will debate. I’m convinced there will be a number of debates.”

He then tried to excuse his craven behavior by pointing to purported differences in preferences between him and Cruz regarding when the debates should occur, who should moderate the debates and what the debate topics should be.

“We’re working through those differences, and we’re trying to introduce more of a collaborative style to the negotiations than he may be used to,” he said Monday at the 2018 Texas Disability Issues Forum.

Uh huh ..

The response from the Texas GOP was brutal and often funny.

Below is a mug shot of O’Rourke when he was arrested in his 20’s for a DWI. A caption on the photo reads: “Sorry, Can’t debate. Had a little too much to drink.”

But the Texas GOP wasn’t done…

The tweet above referenced O’Rourke’s childlike skateboarding habit.

And the tweet above referenced O’Rourke’s prior band membership. The Texas GOP’s tweets, which were obviously meant in jest, were meant to poke fun at the current House representative’s past history as a veritable hipster doofus. To be fair, almost everybody was once a hipster doofus.

Cruz’s campaign responded to O’Rourke’s debate rejection as well, albeit a bit more tactfully.

“[O’Rourke] begged for debates, but when Sen. Cruz invited him to five debates all across Texas, suddenly O’Rourke seemed to get scared,” spokesperson Emily Miller said, reportedly adding that “except for when he has to be in DC for his work in the Senate, Cruz is ready and excited to debate O’Rourke, including this Friday.”

Other Twitter users chimed in as well:

But the ultimate diss came from a Twitter user with the alias “Obi Wine Kenobi.” In a blistering rebuke of O’Rourke posted Wednesday, she pointed to a shocking 2017 report from Texas Monthly that had revealed the truth about the Texas representative’s true nature.

“This week, the U.S. House passed a bill that would grant Harvey victims some relief via tax breaks. Although most of the Texas delegation voted in favor of its passage, four Texas Democrats broke from the ranks and voted against the bill,” the report read.

“U.S. Representatives Joaquin Castro of San Antonio, Lloyd Doggett of Austin, Beto O’Rourke of El Paso, and Marc Veasey of Fort Worth—four of the biggest-name Texas Democrats in Congress—all voted against the bill. According to the Texas Tribune, no Texas Republicans voted against the bill, which passed 264-155.”

And this is exactly why Texas is a red state and shall likely forever remain one — no matter what CNN claims.
