Move over, “Russia collusion” narrative. The “Trump-Mexico collusion” is the new liberal talking point. At least that’s what MSNBC contributor Josh Barro and host Craig Melvin suggested.
Barro said President Trump negotiated a new trade deal with Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto to take the media focus off Senator John McCain’s death.
“I think the president is trying a couple of things: He would like John McCain off the front pages,” Barro said. (You can’t make this stuff up.)
The liberal spinning to marginalize Trump’s new trade deal started after MSNBC host Craig Melvin said he thought Trump’s announcement appeared to be “a distraction by the administration.” Barro agreed by retorting: “I think that’s part of it.”
Never mind that the trade deal is objectively huge news and has a greater impact on Americans and the U.S. economy than the death of one senator. Never mind also that President Trump has repeatedly talked about pulling out of NAFTA and negotiating bilateral trade agreements dating back to his 2016 campaign.
Barro then conceded that President Trump had to work fast to get this deal done before current Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto leaves office on November 30. So in other words, Trump’s timing was dictated by Peña Nieto’s tenure — and not by John McCain’s death.
“You have this deadline where you initiate the 90-day process and you want to do it while the current Mexican president that’s going to leave office [is still there],” Barro said.

Peña Nieto cheerfully participated in the joint phone call with President Trump to announce the deal on August 27. Using MSNBC and Josh Barro’s logic, that would mean that the Mexican president colluded with Trump to take the media focus off McCain’s death.
Here’s a partial transcript from their call:
President Pena Nieto: (As interpreted): “I’m really grateful, Mr. President. I want to say that you. I greatly recognize and acknowledge your political will and your participation in this. I send you an affectionate hug.”
President Trump: “A hug from you would be very nice. (Laughter). Thank you. So long. Thanks. Goodbye, Enrique.”
Ironically, one person who doesn’t want to take the focus off Trump even in death is John McCain, who slammed him from the grave, as BizPac Review reported.

Here’s how President Trump hilariously trolled the media with his “Mexico collusion” phone call:

Meanwhile, the stock markets reacted to the Mexico trade deal by rocketing to new record highs.

Fox Business host Stuart Varney — an alum of the London School of Economics — noted: “It encourages vehicle production in North America rather than Asia. It’s a win for President Trump. And it’s an economic win for America.”
