Giuliani says Trump tape was ‘tampered with,’ warns media that Cohen taped private meetings with them too

Former U.S. Attorney Rudy Giuliani says a team of experts, including former FBI agents he consulted with, concluded that the secret audio tape leaked by Michael Cohen’s team was doctored.

“This could be a recording of a recording,” Giuliani told Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro. “We have determined that he tampered with the tape in the sense that he abruptly, mid-conversation, turned it off…He abruptly ended that recording as soon as the President said the word ‘check.’ What we are investigating is how did that happen. Why did that happen? What was eliminated?”

Giuliani, the attorney for President Donald Trump, said his team is seeking the original, unedited version of the audio tape from Lanny Davis, Michael Cohen’s attorney. Davis is a Democratic lobbyist and longtime close friends with Bill and Hillary Clinton.

“Since we don’t have the original, we asked for it,” Giuliani said. Giuliani said Cohen has totally discredited himself as a witness because of the web of lies he has been caught in.

Giuliani said Cohen’s latest stunt of leaking a secret recording of his own client (which violates attorney-client privilege) underscores that no one should believe anything he says.

As BizPac Review previously reported, the muffled audio tape was not incriminating to President Trump. In the recording (listen above), Cohen approaches then-candidate Trump to discuss some sort of payment to David Pecker, the CEO of American Media, which publishes the National Enquirer tabloid.

Even many in the liberal media called the tape an epic nothing burger because all it did was expose Cohen as a disloyal rat.

Giuliani said Cohen has a trove of other secret recordings, but the now-public tape is the only one involving President Trump so far.

Giuliani warned the media that Cohen secretly recorded many conversations with them, including a two-hour chat with CNN pundit Chris Cuomo. Giuliani said the media should be worried about what they said on Cohen’s tapes.

“He has 180 tapes,” Giuliani said. “And Lanny Davis, his lawyer, says Cohen didn’t ‘intend to deceive.’ Lanny Davis has to confront the fact that with Chris Cuomo, Cohen took his phone and put it in the desk drawer and said, ‘I’m not going to record it.’ What do you mean you are not intending to deceive?”

Giuliani said the only person who could have leaked the doctored tape is Cohen’s attorney.

“There is only one place it could come from: Lanny Davis. Why did they put it out? It’s harmful to Cohen. I think they put it out because they wanted the doctored version to obscure whatever else will be on that tape…We can draw an inference it was favorable to us.”

In light of the allegedly doctored tape, Giuliani’s team ended their joint defense agreement to share information with Cohen’s legal team.  “Now that we’ve seen the full scope of Cohen and Lanny Davis’ deception, we don’t trust anything,” Giuliani said.

Davis responded by saying: “Mr. Giuliani seems to be confused. He expressly waived attorney-client privilege last week and repeatedly and inaccurately — as proven by the tape — talked and talked about the recording, forfeiting all confidentiality.”

This “Tape-Gate” is apparently nothing more than a PR smear campaign designed to attack President Trump and distract/confuse the public. Trump discusses nothing illegal in the recording.

The general consensus is that the audio is so low-quality that listeners cannot accurately make out Trump’s words. The other consensus is that Michael Cohen will get disbarred.
