President Donald Trump spoke out against the “haters” who “wanted to see a boxing match” between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In an early morning tweet on Wednesday, Trump promised that “big things will come” from his summit with Putin, despite the firestorm of backlash he received for seeming to agree with the Russian leader that his government did not interfere in U.S. elections.

Though he was accused by many of ignoring the findings of his own intelligence agencies, with even former CIA Director John Brennan calling his comments “treasonous,” the president said “many people at the higher ends of intelligence” actually loved his press conference with Putin.
So many people at the higher ends of intelligence loved my press conference performance in Helsinki. Putin and I discussed many important subjects at our earlier meeting. We got along well which truly bothered many haters who wanted to see a boxing match. Big results will come!

The president on Tuesday walked back his remarks saying he misspoke.
Following his early morning post on Twitter, Trump tweeted that while last week’s NATO meeting in Brussels was an “acknowledged triumph,” the meeting with Putin will prove to be “an even greater success.”
While the NATO meeting in Brussels was an acknowledged triumph, with billions of dollars more being put up by member countries at a faster pace, the meeting with Russia may prove to be, in the long run, an even greater success. Many positive things will come out of that meeting..

….Russia has agreed to help with North Korea, where relationships with us are very good and the process is moving along. There is no rush, the sanctions remain! Big benefits and exciting future for North Korea at end of process!

Trump had slammed Brennan as “a very bad guy” in an interview with Fox News Tucker Carlson which aired Tuesday.
“I think Brennan is a very bad guy and if you look at it a lot of things happened under his watch,” Trump said. “I think he’s a very bad person.”
In another tweet on Wednesday, the president called out those with “Trump Derangement Syndrome” who would rather go to war with Russian than see the president getting along with Putin.
Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia. They would rather go to war than see this. It’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome!

Sen. Rand Paul defended Trump amid the backlash, saying the president has endured months of pressure under “a partisan witch hunt to go after him to try to say somehow there was collusion with Russia.”
