The father of one of the students murdered in the Parkland massacre is now suing the sheriff’s deputy who did not enter the building during the attack.
Meadow Pollack, an 18 year-old senior at the time of her death, was one of 17 people gunned down at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in February.

Her father, Andrew Pollack, filed a wrongful death suit in Broward Circuit Court on Monday against Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson who has been accused of waiting outside of the building as gunman Nikolas Cruz opened fire in the deadly rampage.
Over a week after the shooting, Broward County Sheriff Scott Isreal called out the school’s resource officer after surveillance video from outside of Building 12 appeared to show Peterson standing outside while gunshots were heard inside the building. A 33-year law enforcement veteran, Peterson resigned from the Broward Sheriff’s Office rather than remain employed and face the consequences of his actions.
For Pollack, that is not enough. He wants Peterson to be recognized wherever he goes as “one of the cowards of Broward.”
I filed a wrongful death suit against Deputy Peterson today. I want to expose that coward so bad. Where ever he goes I want people to recognize him and say that’s one of the cowards of Broward. The SRO that let those children and teachers die on the 3rd floor!

Meadow’s brother, Hunter – who was disinvited from speaking at the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C, in March due to the family not being in favor of gun control – tweeted out a message about Peterson as well.
My family wants the world to know this is the guy that hid behind a concrete wall while kids and teachers were killed. He’s a WEASAL COWARD, and no matter where he goes should be recognized as a failure. He failed to act, and than lied about it after. We will not forget! #FIXIT pic.twitter.com/4ybZ4lEDGa

The victim’s father, who has called Peterson a “coward” and a “Liar” believes his daughter could still be alive if the deputy had acted.
“So, he’s also a liar. And, to go past that, he was there at the third minute, okay? My daughter was killed on the third floor, so he had ample enough time to save everybody on the third floor, this guy,” Pollack told Fox News last month. “And he didn’t do it–because the shooting took … for seven minutes, so he stayed there so my daughter’s on the third floor, she got shot four times, she struggles to a door, this guy’s downstairs, the guy … goes down the hallway, shooting injured kids on the floor, he shoots my daughter another five times while that coward is waiting, that embarrassment of an officer.”
Deputy Scot Peterson could’ve prevented 18-1958 from killing my beautiful daughter & other innocent, unprotected students & teachers! He was paid to protect them but instead he ran & hid because he is a COWARD. Needs to be helps accountable! @AP #FixIthttps://t.co/B5XKFN8GkH

Pollack’s suit also listed as defendants the estate of Lynda Cruz, James Snead, Kimberly Snead, Henderson Behavioral Health, Jerome Golden Center for Behavioral Health INC, and South County Mental Health Center, INC., according to the Sun-Sentinel.
“Instead of actually entering the building as he should have, Peterson positioned himself out of harm’s way, though within earshot of the Nikolaz Cruz carnage,” the lawsuit states. “Rather, Peterson listened to the din of screams of teachers and students, many of whom were dead or dying, and the blasts of Nikolas Cruz’ repeated gunfire.”
Pollack clarified his intentions in bringing the lawsuit, saying it was about the “injustice” of his daughter’s death.
This suit has nothing to do with money. I want to be sure anywhere he goes in this country he will be recognized as the coward that could have gone in and saved the students and teachers on the third floor.

“I’m doing this because of the injustice of my daughter’s unnecessary death,” he told The Daily Caller.
“This guy could have ended it on the first floor,” he continued, “Instead he let six more people die. My daughter would want me to speak up for her. The love I have for my daughter is unmeasurable.”
Pollack, who met with President Trump last month to discuss school safety measures, has launched a nationwide organization with an “8 Point Plan For School Safety.”
Was a tremendous honor meeting with President @realDonaldTrump and @AGPamBondi last month at the @WhiteHouse to discuss the importance of school safety. Things must change and this administration and I will not stop until every school in America is secure! #FixIt pic.twitter.com/Sscf6n5qO1
