Was Kellyanne Conway’s husband throwing some shade at President Trump?
It appeared that way to the New York Post which reported that George Conway “mocked President Trump’s outrage,” in a Tuesday article headlined, “Kellyanne Conway’s husband trolls Trump.”
But was the husband of the White House counselor actually trolling the president with his sub-tweets, offering up some unwritten commentary following Trump’s outrage over the FBI raid of his personal attorney’s office?
George Conway raised some eyebrows when he tweeted out a few responses Tuesday to Trump’s exasperated comments on the ongoing Russia collusion investigation which he has repeatedly called a “witch hunt.”
Following Monday’s raid on the home and office of Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen, the president slammed the “disgraceful” FBI searches as “a pure and simple witch hunt.” He took to Twitter on Tuesday to declare that “Attorney–client privilege is dead!” and “A TOTAL WITCH HUNT!!!”
Conway, a Yale-trained lawyer who represented Paula Jones in her lawsuit against former President Bill Clinton, tweeted a response to Trump, linking to the Justice Department’s guidelines on “Searches of Premises of Subject Attorneys.”

“There are occasions when effective law enforcement may require the issuance of a search warrant for the premises of an attorney who is a subject of an investigation, and who also is or may be engaged in the practice of law on behalf of clients,” the manual states.
Conway also appeared to be directing another tweet at Trump’s argument that the FBI raid and special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation are a “witch hunt.”

He retweeted an image of a 1973 article titled “Nixon sees ‘Witch-Hunt’, Insiders Say.”
That Watergate-era article noted that former President Nixon and his top aides considered the Watergate Senate hearings “unfair” and that they “constitute a political witchhunt,” according to what a source told Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.
Some have questioned if the Twitter account, which has over 20,000 followers, really belongs to Kellyanne Conway’s husband as it does not have a verified blue check mark. But Conway confirmed the page was his last year according to CNN.
Several reports on Conway’s tweets suggested the lawyer, who was under consideration to head the Justice Department’s Civil Division last year, was mocking the president by trolling him online. Unlike his wife who successfully ran Trump’s election campaign, Conway has voiced his criticism of Trump before.
He ended up deleting some tweets last month which appeared to be critical of the president and spoke out last year when Trump vented about his travel ban, which Conway said was not helping his cause. In a tweet last month, Conway reacted to a New York Times report on the possibility that Trump could pardon Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn as “flabbergasting.”

But Conway, an unabashed Republican, had clarified last year that his negative comments did not affect his personal support for Trump.
“Just to be clear, and in response to inquiries, I still VERY, VERY STRONGLY support POTUS, his Admin, policies, the executive order … and of course, my wonderful wife,” he wrote last year.
