Trump reacts calmly to Cohen raid, then he’s asked, ‘Why don’t you just fire Mueller?’

President Donald Trump did not rule out firing special Robert Mueller after the FBI abruptly raided the home and office of his longtime personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

“This is a pure and simple witch hunt,” Trump told reporters Monday after the shocking raid. When a reporter asked: “Why don’t you just fire Mueller?” Trump replied: “We’ll see what happens.”

President Trump called the raid on Cohen “disgraceful” and “a total witch hunt,” and said Mueller’s team of attorneys — many of whom are Democratic donors and Obama/Hillary supporters — are politically biased.

“This is the most biased group of people,” Trump said. “These people have the biggest conflicts of interest I’ve ever seen. Democrats all — or just about all, either Democrats or a couple of Republicans that worked for President Obama.”

Indeed, the upper levels of the FBI are stacked with Obama holdovers who hate Trump. Exhibit A: The 50,000 Trump-bashing texts between Peter Strzok — the deputy director of the FBI Counterintelligence Division — and his mistress Lisa Page, an FBI attorney.

Both had worked on the Mueller investigation until recently, when their anti-Trump bias was uncovered. Strzok and Page are no longer on Mueller’s team, but still work at the FBI, despite their virulent hatred of the sitting U.S. president.

Like millions of Americans, the president does not understand why the Mueller investigation continues even though it has produced no evidence of collusion after an expensive, taxpayer-funded, year-long probe.

“They find no collusion, and then they go from there and they say, ‘Well, let’s keep going,’ and they raid an office of a personal attorney early in the morning,” Trump said. “I think it’s a disgrace.”

While Democrats are foaming at the mouth warning that President Trump will ignite a “constitutional crisis” if he fires Robert Mueller, constitutional law experts like Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz disagree.

Dershowitz — an avowed liberal who voted for Hillary Clinton — has repeatedly pointed out that President Trump has the constitutional authority to fire Mueller if he wants to. However, up until now, Dershowitz said he would advise Trump not to, because it looks bad.

“The president has the authority to fire anyone in the executive branch — the Supreme Court has held that,” said Dershowitz. “On the other hand, it would have been very unwise politically.”

Now that Mueller has upped the ante with the stunning raid on Michael Cohen’s home for matters unrelated to the Russia probe, the situation has changed. It is time to shut down Mueller’s off-the-rails investigation.
