Trump lashes out at Vanity Fair report Melania didn’t want to be First Lady ‘come hell or high water’

President Trump apparently didn’t take too kindly to Vanity Fair’s report, citing a “family friend,” that Melania Trump didn’t want to be First Lady.

“This isn’t something she wanted and it isn’t something [Donald Trump] ever thought he’d win. She didn’t want this come hell or high water,” the report’s source claimed. “I don’t think she thought it was going to happen.”

The Vanity Fair report called Melania Trump “the most enigmatic First Lady” in modern political history. The report goes on to claim that Melania believed that being First Lady is “not my thing,” but according to Roger Stone, she was the force behind Donald Trump that pushed him to finally run for president.

“She was very clearly the one who said, ‘Either run or don’t run,’ ” Stone said, and paraphrased Melania: “ ‘Your friends are tired of this striptease. Every four years you talk about it.’ ”

The former Trump insider explained Melania Trump’s purported point-of-view.

“She knew it was in his blood,” he said. “He always wanted to run. She is the one who pushed him to run just by saying run or do not run. I don’t think she was ever too crazy about it.”

On Tuesday, the president let the publication have it.

This is what he wrote:

Melania, our great and very hard working First Lady, who truly loves what she is doing, always thought that “if you run, you will win.” She would tell everyone that, “no doubt, he will win.” I also felt I would win (or I would not have run) – and Country is doing great!
