Is the swamp beginning to drain itself?
Recent announcements by major Trump detractors have many conservatives cautiously optimistic.
Then-presidential candidate Donald Trump ran on the promise to clean up the corruption and inefficiency that runs rampant through D.C. and beyond – and it seems to be working, on many levels.
News blew up over reports that Democrat Rep. Luis Gutierrez, one of President Trump’s most ardent critics, is expected to announce his retirement on Tuesday.
The news was especially stunning given that Gutierrez had told the Washington Post just before Thanksgiving that he was filing the papers he would need to run again. Gutierrez has been a shoe-in candidate in a heavily blue state.
BREAKING: Democratic sources say @LuisGutierrez will pull his petitions, and NOT run for re-election, @jesuschuygar printing petitions already to begin circulating tomorrow, @CDRosa considering too (calls to Gutierrez not returned)

What? An pro-illegal immigration Democrat incumbant is NOT going to run for reelection — in Illinois? This simply doesn’t happen and it raised eyebrows along with the announcement that fervent Trump critic Keith Olbermann would be refraining from Trump bashing from this point forward.
Olbermann quickly became a poster boy for Trump derangement syndrome, often going on incoherent rants against the Republican president he despises.

But Olbermann gave an abrupt and truly unbelievable reason for promising “to retire from political commentary” on Monday, which only raised the curiosity of conservatives further.
And then there was the announcement that made the trifecta.
Trump’s ongoing battle with the media cannot be better highlighted than his feud with MSNBC’s Morning Joe couple Joe Scarborough and Mike Brzezinski.
The show hosts haven’t been shy about using the show to feature their Trump disdain, but the two have also used social media to go after Trump and even his supporters.
But, now it looks as if Scarborough is ready to erase the evidence.
I'm taking my Trump tweets down. Too 2017 for me.
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) November 27, 2017
Scarborough’s “2017” excuse is as lame as Olbermann’s and the curious announcements from all three Trump detractors has some of the president’s supporters in a whirlwind of speculation.
People like Luis Gutierrez & Keith Olbermann, rabid liberals, don't just randomly retire.
Something big is happening. #TuesdayThoughts #KeithOlbermann

Percolating? Or perhaps draining, or even imploding:
So, Olbermann, Scarborough, Gutierrez … pic.twitter.com/oIDcKYrzXc

It even has many Trump detractors more than a little “concerned.”
What’s your take on Scarborough and Olbermann pulling the plug at the same moment? The MAGA hats are all feeling giddy victory. I’m concerned. Thanks.

Americans cheer as official WH Christmas card is unveiled and it’s definitely NOT like the Obama’s
So, Joe Scarborough is pulling his Trump tweets, Keith Olbermann is ending his Resistance rants, and Rep. Luis Gutierrez is not seeking re-election. We’re stuck in this Trump hell, aren’t we?

The events even got to LGBT activist Calvin Stowell.
BTW, I’m not convinced it’s something that’s good for Dems, think it might actually be the opposite given how Olbermann and Scarborough have essentially signed off this week…

Calvin, now I’m nervous. pic.twitter.com/bUED6AAGOq

This happened. And Olbermann announced that he’s ending his show and all political commentary. On the same day.

Black Lives Matter leader Deray responded with more questions:
We’re all missing it. They both have/had ties to MSNBC. It could all be a coincidence but… ?
— April (@ReignOfApril) November 28, 2017
olbermann’s whole “this is the moment to quit” line makes absolutely no sense. he has to be under some kind of pressure.

The news cycles and poltical events have moved at record pace since President Trump took office, and the timing of these announcements could be a coincidental part of our current “new normal.”
Actress and liberal political activist Susan Sarandon perhaps put it best when she recently explained that while she’s no fan of Trump, she’s not exactly sad that Hillary Clinton lost the election.
“Some people feel that Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately,” Sarandon told MSNBC. “Then things will really, you know, explode.”
One thing’s for certain… there’s truly a different sheriff in town and the effects are being felt far and wide.
