ESPN denied it tried to sideline Jemele Hill by replacing her with another black host hours after White Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders blasted Hill’s defamatory anti-Trump jab as a “fireable offense.”
Two sources claimed ESPN executives wanted to temporarily take Hill off the air following the volcanic fallout after she defamed President Trump as a “white supremacist who surrounds himself with other white supremacists.”
The sources told Think Progress that ESPN had asked other black hosts to sit in for Hill next to her SportsCenter co-host Michael Smith on Wednesday evening. But Smith refused to do the show without her, and other black ESPN hosts also refused as a show of solidarity.

Faced with the prospect of having to replace both Michael Smith and Jemele Hill with two white co-hosts, executives caved in and let the show go on as-is. But the network denied they had tried to bench Hill.
“Michael and Jemele appearing on the show last night and doing the show the way they did is the outcome we always desired,” Rob King, the senior vice president of ESPN, told Think Progress.
As BizPac Review previously noted, it is one thing to call someone a “racist,” but slamming them as a “white supremacist” is a very serious charge bordering on defamation.
Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists.

Meanwhile, Hill stands by her racist rant and isn’t sorry.

Not only can you get fired for defaming someone, but you can get sued. Insulting someone is one thing, but defaming them is a very serious matter.
That’s why we have laws against defamation and legal avenues to address them.

Many people were outraged that ESPN did not condemn Hill’s defamatory diss against the entire Trump administration, which includes minorities such as Omarosa Manigault, an ordained minister who’s the director of the Office of Public Liaison.
As the fallout continues over ESPN’s insistence on pushing left-wing propaganda instead of covering sports, prominent African-Americans have spoken out against Hill’s defamation of President Trump.
Former New York Mets legend Darryl Strawberry said calling Trump a white supremacist is absurd because he knows Trump to be a “kind, gracious” man. “President Trump, he’s a great man to me,” Strawberry told Fox Business. “He was always gracious to me. I really love him and his family.”
Similarly, former Milwaukee County sheriff David Clarke slammed Hill as an opportunistic “backbencher” who trashed Trump to raise her profile. “[People like that] do or say things to bring attention to yourself to try to lift yourself up to where the stars are,” he said.
Sheriff Clarke added that today’s leftists call anyone they disagree with “racist,” so the term has lost all meaning. “This term ‘racism’ is thrown around so much it doesn’t even have any meaning anymore,” Clarke told Fox News. “Everybody’s a ‘bigot,’ everybody’s a ‘racist,’ everybody’s a ‘fascist.'”
