A Texas sheriff issued a sobering warning for America in the wake of the deadly Manchester Arena bombing.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Denton County Sheriff Tracy Murphree condemned the U.K. massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people on Monday but also called out the political correctness that allows Islamic terrorism to take root.
His post, in its entirety, read:
Pay attention to what you see in Manchester England tonight. Pay attention to what is happening in Europe. This is what happens when you disarm your citizens. When you open your borders without the proper vetting. When you allow political correctness to dictate how you respond to an enemy that wants to kill you. When you allow these radicals to travel to Afghanistan and Iran and simply let them back in. When you give up your city’s and your neighborhoods to a religious ideology that says you must convert or die. A ideology that treats women as property, kills gays and women and christians with complete impunity. The left tells us we must submit and accept these radical beliefs and bend over backwards to make sure we don’t hurt anybody’s feelings. The left wants to cater to the very group that would kill every group they claim to support. Folks this is an enemy hell bent on killing you. Committed to forcing you to convert or die. This enemy will strap bombs to their own body and blow themselves up killing children. I’m sick of it. You better wake up America. While you are distracted by the media and the crying of the left, Islamic Jihadist are among us and want to kill you. What will it take? This happening at a concert in Dallas or a school in Denton County? If we don’t do something quick this country will die of political correctness and the fear that someone’s feelings may be hurt. It may very well be to late for Europe.
His words sparked hundreds of responses, some criticizing his “reactionary comments” and “fear-mongering” while many others agreed and applauded.
“Preach it. Everything you said is something I’ve been saying for two decades. People need to wake up and realize this is a clear and present danger, and unless we accept this fact, we will face the same fate as Europe,” one Facebook user wrote.
“You just said what many people don’t have the balls to say but know in their hearts is true,” another commented.
Some defended the differing positions in comments to each other.
In interviews that followed, Murphree did not back down from his statement.
“I’ve never shied away from telling you my beliefs or how I feel about things. I’m not politically correct,” Murphree told CBS11 on Tuesday.

“I’m just sick and tired of kids dying around the world. When you’re chastised and called names because you use the words radical Islamic terrorism. It baffles me. when I made that post I thought everyone knew that radical Islamic terrorism was a problem in the world,” he told KRLD.
As for his critics, Murphree said he only has to answer to voters in Denton.
“I’m an elected official. I ran on a conservative, Republican platform, so I don’t think it should be any surprise to anyone,” he told CBS11.
The Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations responded to Murphree’s Facebook post with a statement of its own.
“We call on Sheriff Murphree to reaffirm his pledge, and that of his officers, to serve and protect all Denton County residents regardless of their faith, ethnicity or national origin,” CAIR-DFW Civil Rights Director Nikiya Natale said, according to WFAA. “We are concerned that someone obligated to provide equal justice for all holds such inaccurate, stereotypical and divisive views.”
But this is one sheriff who is not afraid to tell it like it is.
“I’m not going to be politically correct. I’m not going to tell you things I don’t believe are true,” Murphree told WFAA. “I’m going to tell you what I believe is true. And as an American citizen, I do have the right to weigh in on national policy.”
