Following Friday’s deadly shooting at a Florida airport, Governor Rick Scott made a call to the incoming president, Donald Trump.
Scott told reporters that he had spoken with President-elect Trump and Vice president-elect Mike Pence several times since the shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport that left five people dead and more than a dozen injured.

The governor was clear that he had not spoken with President Obama nor had the current president even reached out to him yet.
Trump tweeted soon after the news broke on Friday, sending “thoughts and prayers.”

The shooter, identified as 26-year-old Esteban Santiago from Alaska, was taken into custody by police after the shooting. A member of the U.S. Army National Guard, Santiago reportedly had told the FBI he was being forced to fight for ISIS.
Some Twitter users expressed outrage that Scott had not reached out to the sitting president, but others were quick to respond with reminders of Obama’s track record.
