Shooter goes on rampage at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport; multiple deaths, injuries reported

Multiple people have been killed and several more have been injured in a shooting at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport on Friday before the situation was deemed resolved by officials.

At least five were killed according to authorities, People Magazine reported.

CNN reported the number of injured as nine, while Fox News had it at least six.

A witness who spoke to Fox News’ Shepard Smith said the shooter was a man in his thirties, slender and wearing a Star Wars t-shirt.

Aerial footage of the airport showed people standing on the tarmac after parts of the facility were evacuated, CNN reported.

Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer was on the scene.

The Associated Press reported that there was a single shooter who has been neutralized according to the mayor of Broward County.

Several reports have stated that the shooting occurred in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 and that the suspect is in custody and being questioned.
