The days of letting this kind of witch hunt slide are over.
Left-leaning Buzzed Entertainment took a break from bashing Donald Trump’s cabinet picks to go after the hosts of the wildly popular HGTV series, “Fixer Upper.”

The Waco, Texas-based construction and design team Chip and Joanna Gaines‘ claim to fame is to turn the worst houses in the best neighborhoods into something their owners can be proud of.
Apparently, not finding any dirt to use to attack them directly, Buzzfeed’s Kate Aurthur went after the Gaines’ Christian faith and scooped the competition with an announcement that their church forbids same-sex marriage.
That’s it? Really?
The publication reported:
Chip And Joanna Gaines’ Church Is Firmly Anti-Same-Sex Marriage https://t.co/3d2B5IyGVI via @KateAurthur
— BuzzFeedEntmnt (@BuzzFeedEnt) November 29, 2016
After describing the Gains’ wild success in design, retail, real estate and other ventures, Aurthur got to the real point of her story.
“Their church, Antioch Community Church, is a nondenominational, evangelical, mission-based megachurch,” she wrote. “And their pastor, Jimmy Seibert, who described the Gaineses as ‘dear friends’ in a recent video, takes a hard-line against same-sex marriage and promotes converting LGBT people into being straight.”
Her “scoop” would be laughable had it not been picked up as newsworthy by more mainstream publications — Cosmopolitan and US Weekly.

Buzzfeed was immediately scorched on social media for “faith-shaming.”
Tired of anti-Christian bigots trying to faith-shame innocent people and destroy lives. #faithshaming

Buzzfeed Entertainment on a political witch hunt against HGTV's Fixer Upper couple. Because they're popular, successful, Texan & Christian. https://t.co/zBYRUD9oaJ

@BuzzFeedEnt @KateAurthur Two good hard-working people raising a family & running a business creating jobs. Yup. Everything the left hates

And how about that “fake news” that the left is always accusing conservatives of reporting?
Keep it up. It’s this kind of vitriolic attack on diversity from the #FakeNews industry that ensures ur demise. ? @BuzzFeedEnt @KateAurthur

And if you’re going to hit the Gaines for their faith, how about those famous Catholic Democrats?
So does Nancy Pelosi’s, Tim Kaine’s, Joe Biden’s . . . https://t.co/9CnetYbvHO

The much-revered Democratic Kennedy clan can be included with this bunch. And with Catholics you get a double-whammy: The Vatican not only refuses to recognize same-sex marriages, but it’s also fervently pro-life. Now there’s a story — or not.

Moving on to Islam, Rep. Keith Ellison, the reported front-runner to become the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is the House’s first Muslim member. The Federalist’s Sean Davis wondered if Buzzfeed would be asking Ellison for his take on same sex marriage, since the Muslim religion is widely known for its hardline anti-gay stance.
Kinda strange how @BuzzFeedBen and BuzzFeed haven’t asked what potential DNC chairman Keith Ellison’s imam believes about hot-button issues.

Another social media user asked if Buzzfeed would be targeting Native Americans.
@seanmdav Same-sex marriage is not permitted on many Native American reservations. @BuzzFeedBen should go after them w/o getting feedback.

This isn’t the first time HGTV personalities have been targeted by the left because of their faith. Twin brothers David and Jason Benham had their show, “Flip it Forward,” cancelled before it got off the ground after a blog was published claiming David was an “anti-gay, anti-choice extremist.”
Fox News host Megyn Kelly reported the brouhaha Wednesday on her show.
