Geraldo Rivera just found common ground for two presidential candidates who could not be further apart in their views.
Calling Democratic contender Bernie Sanders “so clearly a fringe candidate,” Rivera, appearing on “Fox & Friends” Friday, likened the Vermont senator to a GOP rival.
“Bernie Sanders is like Ted Cruz. They are extremist candidates who will not be in the final mix,” Rivera said.

Social media reaction was swift, and as usual with Rivera, merciless.
@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera Cruz extreme like the socialist Sanders? Really? Because Cruz is a constitutional conservative & a Christian?
— Steven Richards (@LifeCoach37) February 5, 2016
@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera being for the constitution isn’t extreme! #Cruz2016 #CruzCrew

@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera Geraldo is a SOCIALIST, what do you expect him to say about our most conservative candidate!
— Michael Guess (@Port_Gunner) February 5, 2016
@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera Why does Fox keep bringing this moron on its shows?
— Michael M. (@GodandCountry51) February 5, 2016
@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera Why do you keep giving Rivera a platform to spout nonsense from?
— A. F. Holloway (@psychhollow) February 5, 2016
@foxandfriends @FoxNews @GeraldoRivera If staying true to the Constitution is “extremist”, count me in.
— G. Lamar Wilkie (@WWWilkie) February 5, 2016
@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera if Geraldo said it, it must be true. I’m being sarcastic.
— Sharon Border (@border_sharon) February 5, 2016
Simply stated:
@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera Geraldo……please ?
— Dan Nobles (@DanNobles) February 5, 2016
@foxandfriends @GeraldoRivera taking advice on political candidates from Geraldo is like taking legal advice from Geraldo #Dumb

And one Twitter user remembered what the media once was.
@foxandfriends @FoxNews @GeraldoRivera
In the past ‘Reporters’ used to talk about Presidential issues not personalities.
