Texas murder case involving man allegedly spiking drink to kill unborn daughter moves forward with indictment

A Texas man is facing charges after allegedly spiking his girlfriend’s drink with an abortion drug.

Jon Demeter was indicted on first-degree abortion charges after his girlfriend unknowingly consumed an abortion-inducing medication, resulting in the death of her unborn daughter, Presley Mae. Investigators accuse Demeter of ordering the pill online, crushing it up and putting it in a beverage that he pressured her to drink.

“The affidavit states within hours, she went to the hospital, cramping and bleeding and later delivered the fetus. Investigators say the pregnancy was about 14 weeks along and the unborn child did not survive,” Click2Houston reported.

Montgomery County District Attorney Mike Holley believes this case will be a first-of-its-kind ruling, and the charge carries a potential life sentence.

“It has never been lawful for someone to perform an abortion in the manner against a woman and against her consent of this nature,” Holley added. “If somebody’s considering doing this to a woman, they should think twice, especially if they’re in our county.”

Demeter reportedly told investigators about the website where he purchased the pills, but maintained that he gave them away and did not spike his girlfriend’s drink with them.

“She had 10 fingers and 10 toes. She was developed about 14 weeks along,” Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said of the child who lost her life. “That future was stolen before it ever had a chance to begin.”
