Tim Burchett storms out of committee meeting: ‘I’m disgusted… We’re going to blow it!’

U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) has had it with weak-kneed Republican leadership in Washington who are too afraid to win, opting instead to appease Democrat lawmakers to ensure the success of backroom deals cut in secret.

In a video posted online, Burchett stormed out of a late-night committee meeting while expressing his frustration over the D.C. swamp prevailing once again. In the clip, Burchett called out the GOP chairman of the House Transportation Committee, U.S. Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.), for voting with Democrats to kill a number of Republican amendments to a 1000-page bill dropped on them at the last minute.

“I’m disgusted with our own party. I was told I wasn’t a ‘team player’ because I wouldn’t go along,” Burchett wrote while posting his video on X:

In another clip posted, Burchett voiced his disgust with the corruption that defines D.C. politics, warning that the GOP is going to blow the opportunities that come with being the majority — an assessment that comes as no surprise to anyone paying attention.

Explaining that amendments designed to cut regulations were not allowed because of backroom deals cut, Burchett warned that when Democrats are in the majority, they will push their agenda through.

“We’re going to blow it because we’re not acting like we’re in the majority… we allow the Democrats to tell us what to do. It’s just unbelievable,” Burchett said.

“At some point we’re going to have to get some guts. This town is as crooked as a dog’s leg and I’m disgusted,” he continued, adding that he is in D.C. because he wants to “fight” for what’s right.

Burchett’s complaints are nothing new. The Republican base has watched the GOP-led Senate refuse to pass the SAVE America Act to protect election integrity — a glaring failure that suggests they’re willing to let the opposition party, notorious for manipulating elections, win in November. That said, there may be method to the madness, because if Democrats retake the House and Senate, their immediate priority would almost certainly be impeaching President Donald Trump.
