High school students walk out after board nixes beloved police office for ‘equity’

The kids are going to be alright.

Many among Generation Z, at least, have been showing signs of common sense and patriotism. So it was refreshing to see a video that reinforces that hopeful trend when high school students outside of Seattle went to bat for their beloved school police officer who was reportedly being booted in the name of “equity”.

Libs of TikTok shared video that showed students protesting outside with signs supporting the officer, and said they had also started a petition.

“The board claimed some students felt “discomfort” with the officer and want to move toward a more “equitable” program,” Libs of TikTok reported.

“The student body launched a massive petition and walkout in support of the officer, who they said made the school feel safe.”

According to X account, Theia, who did a deep-dive with Grok, there were “no specific personal reasons or detailed complaints from students claiming the resource officer made them feel unsafe were publicly quoted or documented.”

But there’s more, according to Theia’s findings:

2) The school board voted 4-1 to end the school resource officer (SRO) contract with Bothell Police, citing general concerns about “equitable policing,” the “school-to-prison pipeline,” and that the presence of an armed officer on campus makes some students feel unsafe—particularly students of color.
3) Malik Lopez-Terron, president of the Black Student Union, said that only one student had ever expressed discomfort with the SRO program—and that this did not represent the student body’s views or values.
4) Other students of color at public comments pushed back, with one saying: “As a student of color, I’m tired of watching everyone assume they already know how students of color feel.”
5) Many students of color described Ware as a mentor who built positive relationships and made the school feel safe.

X users were happy to see the kids stand up for sanity and their safety, but weren’t surprised that the decision likely stemmed from woke adults.

That says a lot!

Bravo, kids!
