Karen Bass tries to shift blame when CNN puts her on the spot over broken promise to end homeless crisis

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was pressed on why voters should trust her after the Democrat failed to deliver on her campaign promise to end the city’s homeless problem.

In some areas, the streets in the “City of Angels” have been overrun by vagrants, including alcoholics and drug addicts, a drain on taxpayer resources and an eyesore in what used to be one of the most desirable areas in the U.S. before it was destroyed by decades of Democrat rule.

The latest to contribute to the city’s downfall is the Castro-loving former congresswoman whose tenure has been disastrous, yet she’s running for reelection, hoping that Los Angelenos will ignore her failures with the homeless problem being the most visible.

Bass tried to duck the blame when confronted about her broken promise by CNN’s Elex Michaelson, who sat down with the mayor for an interview that aired on Wednesday.

Michaelson confronted Bass about a 2023 interview with anchor Jake Tapper in which she said that her goal was to end homelessness in the streets of LA by 2026, which obviously hasn’t happened.

“How are you so off?” Michaelson asked.

“Well, basically, when I said that, it was at the beginning of my term,” she responded. “I am very committed to achieving that goal.”

“I didn’t anticipate some of the bureaucratic barriers that I would experience, but I am prepared to take those on now,” Bass said, moving the goalposts to her second term, if voters give her more time.

“You promised that it would go away 100 percent, and it’s only gone down about 17.6 percent,” Michaelson pointed out. “Why should people trust you that you’re gonna be able to get to the 100 percent?”

“Because, let me just tell you, for the first time we’ve had a decrease at all,” Bass replied, an answer that was ripped to shreds by X users.

Who would have thought it was possible? CNN is actually engaging in journalism. But it likely won’t save Los Angeles from a second helping of Bass with self-destructive Democrat voters thoroughly committed to party loyalty, regardless of the decline in their quality of life.
