James Woods predicts coming virus hype to promote mail-in balloting

Reports on the latest public health emergencies are quickly contributing to fears at a critical time in American politics.

With midterm elections a few short months away and heated campaigns in full play, the news on recent cases of Ebola and Hantavirus is circulating along with warnings about outbreaks, as the World Health Organization has declared a “public health emergency of international concern.”

Conservative actor James Woods noted that we have “seen this before,” in a social media post reacting to warnings that the diseases can “amplify and spread quickly.”

“Here we go again. The mainstream media lapdogs will ramp up the Ebola and Hantavirus ‘outbreaks’ for the midterms, all to promote mail-in balloting,” he wrote. “We’ve seen this before, guys.”

In an update on the Hantavirus outbreak aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship in April, the WHO reported that the “public health risk has been reassessed with the most current information available, and the global risk remains low.”

Media outlets continue to report on “deadly outbreaks” and the safety measures being implemented.

On social media, many reactions aligned with Woods’ assessment and warned about fearmongering reports.
