‘Pure evil’: NBC News dragged for take on Kyle Rittenhouse’s spider bite

Coming to grips with the media in America gets a lot easier when you realize that it’s all about shaping the political narrative and, on that note, they are fairly consistent.

Gun rights activist Kyle Rittenhouse was rushed to a hospital this week after getting bitten by a brown recluse spider, and he shared his ordeal online, posting, “The communists couldn’t take me out and i’ll be damned if I let a brown recluse take me out.”

NBC News did its part in covering the story, posting on X, “Kyle Rittenhouse, who gained fame for opening fire at a 2020 civil rights rally in Wisconsin, was hospitalized after he was bitten by a venomous spider, the noted firearms enthusiast says.”

Now, there is a LOT to unpack here, beginning with the fact that the protests in Kenosha were over the 2020 shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man armed with a knife, who was resisting arrest. Rittenhouse shot three men who were in the process of attacking him — one of the men was armed with a handgun — after he fell while being chased by a mob in the streets of Kenosha. These men, all white, were frequently identified in the media as Black Lives Matter activists.

As for NBC News’ characterization of a “civil rights rally,” the popular Libs of TikTok account added some sorely needed context here:

The Kenosha Business Alliance said at the time more than 100 businesses were damaged during the rioting that took place, and at least 40 businesses were destroyed. The group estimated damages could be as high as $50 million.

Rittenhouse is doing well, though the spider did not fare so well.

“The spider, like the commies, also thought it was a good idea to come after me while I was armed,” he posted.

Here’s a sampling of responses to the story from X, with the theme perhaps being that you cannot hate the media enough these days:
