Barack Obama and Mark Hamill team up to put out a cringe-inducing video for Star Wars Day

Former President Barack Obama and Mark Hamill teamed up to put out a cringe-inducing video for Star Wars Day.

While nerds everywhere were busy celebrating a day dedicated to their love of the sci-fi franchise, Obama and Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, got together to film a video promoting the Obama Presidential Center. The facility doesn’t open until June 19, but tickets become available as soon as May 6, which is likely why they chose the timing of the promotion to coincide with such a popular date.

“Happy Star Wars Day from the Obama Presidential Center,” the former president said.

“I have a very good feeling about this,” Hamill quipped.

“Mark, I am glad you are here. I want to tell you about someone, a young person born into ordinary circumstances, but restless, Unsatisfied,” Obama continued. “A kid with big dreams. A bit of a rebel.”

“I like where this is going,” the actor chimes in.

“They join a scrappy group of underdogs and set out to change things,” Obama adds.

“By blowing up a giant space laser?” Hamill asks, mimicking an explosion.

“Mark, this is not about you, as wonderful as you are; this is about them,” Obama chided, pointing at the camera.

“This isn’t a monument to my legacy, it’s a gateway to yours. The Obama Presidential Center is much more than a museum; it is an entire campus built to empower you. A place to come together, get inspired and become a force… for change.”
