Joy Reid: ‘Democrats do not play politics the way Republicans do. They try to play by the rules’

Maury Povich didn’t let former MSNBC host Joy Reid get away with claiming Democrats “do not play politics.”

Reid joined the former daytime talk show host for an episode of his podcast, “On Par,” where the pair discussed politics. Unfortunately for the leftist guest, Povich wasn’t about to let her get away with painting Democrats as the morally superior party.

Watch:

“Well, first of all, Democrats do not play politics the way Republicans do. The difference between the parties-” Reid said.

“Oh, come on. Joy, oh please,” Povich scoffed.

“They do not, they do not,” she shook her head. “Democrats play by the Marquis de Queensberry rules, I think, they’re not rulebreakers.”

“You’re trying to tell me, if Democrats take the Senate in 2027 and [Supreme Court Justice Samuel] Alito retires, and [President Donald] Trump names a Supreme Court justice, that Democrats are gonna have hearings and actually confirm him or her?” Povich asked, clearly skeptical.

“I think they would,” she responded.

“Not a chance,” the host said.

“Can you imagine Chuck Schumer doing any of the things [Mitch] McConnell did? Of course not! They couldn’t even hold out on a government shutdown because eight of them turned tail and gave in,” Reid explained. “Democrats capitulate and they try to play by the rules. Republicans don’t care about the rules, they rewrite the rules.”

X users had plenty to say about that:
