Tsunami of Eric Swalwell staffers turn on him in brutal new letter

Dozens of Rep. Eric Swalwell’s former staffers released a blistering letter reacting to the “serious” and “credible” sexual allegations against him.

The California Democrat’s political career is in free fall in the wake of the allegations of four women, including a former aide, who accused Swalwell of sexual misconduct, including an alleged rape. Hours before he suspended his California gubernatorial campaign, 55 of Swalwell’s former staffers penned a joint letter expressing their “heavy hearts and unwavering resolve.”

They stated that the “allegations reported by the San Francisco Chronicle and CNN are serious, credible, and demand accountability.”

“We stand unequivocally with our colleague, who showed extraordinary courage in coming forward to share her truth. We believe her,” the letter signed by the former employees continued.

“What has been described is not a political attack. It is the account of a young woman who trusted her employer, who was targeted and exploited by someone in a position of power over her,” they wrote. “The corroboration reported by both outlets, including medical records and multiple witnesses, makes clear that this cannot be dismissed or deflected.”

Referring to actions taken by Swalwell in the face of the explosive claims, the letter continued, “No statement, no cease-and-desist letter, and no claim of political motivation changes what our colleague experienced.”

The ex-staffers called for “a full and thorough investigation” to be launched “without delay.”

“No one is above the law. Not a congressman. Not a candidate for governor. No one,” they wrote.

Further, they demanded that the Democrat lawmaker withdraw from the California gubernatorial race, which Swalwell did soon after, and that he resign his seat in Congress.

“Remaining in either role while these allegations hang unresolved is an insult to every person who has ever worked for him, reported to him, or placed their trust in him,” they continued.

The letter concluded with a message to the former aide who had the “bravery” to come forward with her story.

“We are deeply sorry that we did not know what you were enduring, and we carry the weight of that with us,” they wrote. “We are appalled by his actions and stand firmly with you and every victim who has come forward.”
