Jesse Ventura wants to fight Trump: ‘Let’s both get in the ring’

Former WWE wrestler Jesse Ventura extended a bizarre challenge to President Donald Trump on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

During Ventura’s segment, Morgan asked him about a clip from 2004, where the pair was seen at WrestleMania 20. In the video, the ex-wrestler could be heard saying “You know what? I think that we may need a wrestler in the White House in 2008.” Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013 after taking part in the “Battle of the Billionaires” and hosting WrestleMania IV and V at Trump Plaza.

He pushed back by insisting that he was talking about himself, and then challenged Trump to get “in the ring.”

“I feel that simply I was doing my job, I was doing what I was asked to do at the WWE. Trump being a hall of famer is a tragedy. This guy has never been in the ring,” Ventura ranted.

“Donald Trump does not belong in the wrestling Hall of Fame. He never earned it. You know what I had to do to get into the pro wrestling Hall of Fame? At one point in my career I wrestled 63 consecutive nights in a row. That’s how you get into the Hall of Fame. When I was referring to putting a wrestler in the White House, I was talking about me not him!” he added.

Morgan pointed out that his statement was ambiguous enough that reasonable viewers might believe he was talking about Trump, especially given that he is serving his second presidential term.

“I was the former governor of Minnesota. I’m the only real former wrestler. I don’t include him. He’s only in the Hall of Fame because he stopped an investigation against Vince McMahon — sexual stuff,” Ventura said.

He also shot down the idea of running for governor again, something he had floated while reacting to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shootings.

“I’ll put it to you this way — we withstood the onslaught of the Gestapo [ICE] in Minnesota. I was taught in war to ensure your backyard is secure. That’s the first thing you do. Well, Minnesota is now secure. We’ve repelled the onslaught from Trump. Now it’s time for us to go on the offense, so maybe it’s time to send the Navy Seals to Washington. Maybe it’s time for a showdown between the Vietnam veteran and the draft dodger,” he suggested to Morgan.

Morgan broke in to clarify what he meant, asking if he was referring to something “physical.”

“No, but if he wants it, he’s in the hall of fame. Let’s both get in the ring. He’s in the hall of fame, isn’t he? Even though he’s never, ever had a match.”
