Rogan ‘excited’ about UFC fight at White House, but explains why it may be ‘weird’

Joe Rogan is “excited” about the planned UFC fight night at the White House scheduled for June 14; however, given the ongoing conflict with Iran, he apparently has some trepidation about the event.

President Donald Trump proposed the event last year as part of the celebration of America’s 250th birthday, and Rogan, a long-time announcer of UFC fights, was asked about it on his podcast Thursday. The date coincides with Trump’s 80th birthday.

“I’m excited. It sounds crazy. I know it’s going to be very high security and high stress and weird to have a fight at the White House in the middle of a f*cking war,” Rogan said.

“I would hope the war will be sorted out by June, but quite honestly, I’m not confident that’s going to be the case,” he continued. “So that’ll be weird. Having this very high-profile event where everyone’s in one place at one time right there. It seems like you’re asking for…”

“Holy sh*t. I hadn’t thought of that at all,” guest Konstantin Kisin interjected.

“How can you not think of that?” Rogan asked.

“Because I’m not going to be there,” Kisin replied. “You’re the one who has to think about it.”

The remark drew laughter from Rogan, though he appears to be a little nervous in the service.

As for his thoughts about the war with Iran being ongoing three months from now, that is not consistent with the president’s timeline.

Trump said the day after strikes began that he saw the conflict lasting “four to five weeks,” and he said on Monday that the war was “very complete, pretty much” and “very far ahead of schedule.” The president told Axios on Wednesday that the war may end “soon” because there is “practically nothing left” for the U.S. military to bomb.

So Rogan may not have to fret over the possibility that hostilities will be ongoing, rendering the event riskier than it would be otherwise.

Some on social media see the planned event as the ultimate show of strength, if held during hostilities.
