Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Michigan, is under fire for an X post reacting to the strikes on Iran.
On Saturday, she hopped on the social media platform to seemingly blast the United States with a post about the Iranian strikes. Her commentary was more sympathetic to Iran than to the country she was elected to represent, which irritated a large number of people.
Look:
Both the U.S. and genocidal Israel doesn’t care about the laws. This is who they are. https://t.co/AQbNEi4Ojj

“Both the U.S. and genocidal Israel doesn’t care about the laws. This is who they are,” she wrote, sharing a video that purports to show the bombing of an Iranian school.
It didn’t take long for reactions to start pouring in, including from New Yorker writer James Surowiecki.
You’re a member of Congress. Don’t call the U.S. “they.” https://t.co/rYdgU9af2A

“You’re a member of Congress. Don’t call the U.S. ‘they,'” he admonished.
Others also took issue with the wording of her post:

A Congresswoman referring to the U.S. as “they”…
She doesn’t even pretend to be on the same team anymore. Openly rooting against America and for terrorist regimes. https://t.co/OtaUBTOEKk

Terrorism apologist/Congresswoman uncritically parrots regime propaganda (as she often has for Hamas), while referring to the United States as “they.” https://t.co/9YsHV3yYDN

If “we” are “they”, then “you” need to get the fuck out. https://t.co/AC6qo8b0n3

Many more had suggestions for the congresswoman:
I identify as them. Please be considerate.

You are a traitor to your country. You should move back to the country where your true loyalties lie.

er, did a US Congresswoman just refer to her country as “they”
and even if not, I’m still offended that she wrongfully used the word “doesn’t”
