Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has taken another turn, source says

The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has taken another turn.

According to a Fox News Digital source with inside knowledge on the topic, one of the doorbell images released by the FBI was actually taken on a separate date. The image depicts a masked suspect without a backpack, indicating that someone may have scouted the home ahead of what is being investigated as a kidnapping.

Unfortunately, the source declined to offer specific details, such as when the image was taken, due to the ongoing search. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos was clear in a statement to Fox News that he did not reveal the information.

“Authorities have alternately asked for neighbors to check their home security systems for the entire month of January, the night of Jan. 11, and the hours surrounding Guthrie’s disappearance, between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1,” the outlet reported. “The suspected scouting visit was first reported by ABC News, citing unnamed sources.”

“That’s sophistication. That’s the hallmark of someone who thought about this before they acted. And it matters significantly from a legal standpoint, because premeditation and planning elevate the severity of what investigators are looking at,” Retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jason Pack told Fox. “The suspect in this case may have thought they were being careful. But appearing twice on camera while trying to avoid identification isn’t careful. That’s exposure. And right now, investigators are working very hard to close that gap.”

Following the publication of the Fox News piece, PCSD stressed that they have not released any information regarding the timestamps of photos from the Nest video.

“We are aware that doorbell images released earlier in the investigation depict a suspect in different stages of attire, including with and without a backpack. There is no date or time stamp associated with these images. Therefore, any suggestion that the photographs were taken on different days is purely speculative,” reads a statement from the department.

Authorities have been tight-lipped on the investigation, only releasing as much information as they deem necessary to a public hungry for answers following the shocking abduction of Guthrie, mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie. This has resulted in much speculation and theory-crafting from curious observers who have noted discrepancies in the released information, as well as details like the persistent police presence at the home of the brother-in-law. It has even led to a spat between podcaster Megyn Kelly and NewsNation host Chris Cuomo, as previously reported by BizPac Review.

It remains to be seen whether the FBI or the local police department will share any more details about the potential casing of Guthrie’s home.
