Portland pizzeria claims victimhood after unhinged anti-ICE rant goes viral

After bombarding website patrons with a virtue signal checklist that read “F*ck Ice,” a Portland pizzeria claimed victimhood status, insisting it welcomes “all guests” and “never stated otherwise.”

Standing out as a hotbed of violent protests where agitators have frequently clashed with federal agents, a Portland, Oregon wood fire pizza shop still managed to raise eyebrows. Weeks after committing to donate to help illegal aliens, a popup calling for the abolition of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) alongside alphabet activism, Hamas sympathy and The Science™ adherence found Tastebud lamenting “a surge of hateful” reviews.

Earning attention on social media, Libs of TikTok had shared the “unhinged anti-ICE rant” from the pizza business that seemed to suggest, “I guess if you support ICE they don’t want your business,” as a popup screen inviting visitors to signup for a newsletter read, “Food is [Political] • No one is illegal on [stolen] land • F*ck Ice, Abolish Ice • Release the Trump/Epstein files • Free Palestine • Black Lives Matter • Trans women are women • Love your LGBTQ+ neighbors • The holocaust was real • Healthcare is human right • Masks save lives • Get your damn vaccines • Wash your hands • Germ theory is science • Cook chicken to 165 • Stay hydrated.”

That popup has since been updated to read, “Food is political because care has become political • Tastebud stands for human rights, equality, science, and collective care • From justice and inclusion to public health, truth and looking out for one another,” while the business argued silence and waiting are not “neutrality • Both are permission.”

Tastebud had also promoted cash only transactions when promising 10% of sales on Jan. 30 would go to Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition as others engaged in protests. “We will remain open today — to feed and gather our staff and community. We will also donate a percentage of sales to organizations that are on the ground fighting, helping those who are directly effected by DHS/ICE/CBP and their lawless and terroristic actions.”

The business that asserted Renee Good and Alex Pretti had been “murdered in plain sight” while engaging in anti-ICE activism in Minnesota provided a statement to Fox News Digital, contending that all guests are welcome.

Tastebud also insisted that “Not everything has to be political, but increasingly everything seems to become political. We believe many of today’s arguments function as false flags that further divide our communities,” and claimed, “Since receiving attention for our statement, we have experienced a surge of hateful, harassing, and abusive reviews, calls, and emails. This is concerning for our staff, our family, and our guests.”

While some reacted to the postings by calling for a boycott against the business, others suggested the move to be wholly unnecessary citing exorbitant prices for disappointing food, “Eating there is an IQ test for morons.”
