A heated exchange between Fox News host Greg Gutfeld and Democratic strategist Jessica Tarlov erupted on Wednesday as the co-hosts clashed over gun policy, crime, and liberal policies.
The argument took place on “The Five” when Gutfeld blamed Democratic policies for rising crime and social disorder, saying that progressive governance produces real-world harm. Gutfeld argued that city leaders lack the resolve to move vulnerable people off the streets and into shelters. Tarlov fired back and steered the discussion toward gun violence and school shootings.
“The only policies that lead to harm are Democrats. We don’t push trans. We don’t push no pass bail. We don’t push any of the stuff that, oh, 13 homeless in New York City,” Gutfeld said. “Was that a Republican issue or a Democrat issue? It’s because you guys didn’t have the balls to get those guys out of the cold, into shelters. Every single act of compassion you do leads to death.”

“You never change gun laws to school shootings. You never change gun laws. I’m sorry. No, no, baby, just little kids dead,” Tarlov said.
“Who is doing the shootings?” Gutfeld asked.
“That’s not true,” Tarlov shot back.
Research says that about 43–45% of school shooters in K–12 shootings were current or former students of the targeted school, meaning they were part of the school community. In many databases tracking incidents over decades, a large share of shooters were minors or young adults, especially at elementary and secondary schools.
Federal data shows a majority of active shooters at elementary and secondary schools were between the ages of 12 and 18. Other research indicates that nearly two-thirds of school shooters were under age 17 in some long-term trend analyses.
