Body-worn cameras will be issued to federal agents in Minnesota, a request made by protesters and Democrats.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made the announcement on Monday, revealing that the bodycams will be sent to the agents in Minnesota who fall under her purview. This comes as agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol are coming under fire for their conduct in the state, including the fatal shootings of protesters Renee Good and Alex Pretti. It is claimed that video from both incidents varies from the official Trump administration narrative, and it is believed that bodycams will help clear up confusion and provide an honest account of any future clashes.

“Effective immediately we are deploying body cameras to every officer in the field in Minneapolis. As funding is available, the body camera program will be expanded nationwide. We will rapidly acquire and deploy body cameras to DHS law enforcement across the country. The most transparent administration in American history—thank you [President Donald] Trump. Make America Safe Again,” Noem posted on X Monday afternoon.

This is a fantastic move. I always wondered why they weren’t wearing them.

I think this will help the officers and help with evidence of the violent protestors

Avaliable funding? You have a 57 billion dollar budget, the largest by far of any federal agency in the 250 year history of the nation. For reference that’s roughly equal to Ukraine’s entire military annual budget and they are fighting a world superpower.

Honestly, the Left should be thrilled about this as they’ve been advocating for this exactly for years. So you should have bipartisan support on this. Body Cams seem like they are a good idea for everyone: Law enforcement and the public.
