A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper working alongside Border Patrol agents on Saturday fired shots at a moving SUV, which ultimately fled the scene in Laredo.
A video of the incident circulating on social media Friday shows what appears to be a neighborhood resident’s account of the driver speeding up and escaping after being surrounded by agents. “They left. They got away. They got away! They got away!” a woman’s voice could be heard saying in the background as sirens blared and the white SUV zoomed out of the frame.
A trooper appears to fire his gun at the SUV’s front right tire, the video shows.

“On January 31, 2026, at approximately 12:35 p.m., Border Patrol agents in Laredo assisted the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) with a pursuit DPS initiated,” a spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) told the Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement.
“That pursuit resulted in shots being fired by DPS Troopers near the intersection of Doner Road and Big Bend Boulevard in Laredo, Texas. We defer to TX DPS for further detail,” the CBP spokesperson added.
The Texas DPS did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the pursuit.
The Department of Homeland Security directed the DCNF to CBP’s statement. When contacted for comment, the Laredo Police Department was not able to provide the DCNF with any information on the incident.
