Defensive much? Ilhan Omar pops off over legit question about suspicious spraying

U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) bristled over the suggestion that she staged an incident in which she was sprayed with a substance during a Tuesday town hall in Minneapolis, which some suspect is a Jussie Smollett-style hoax.

During the “Squad” member’s remarks, a man identified as 55-year-old Anthony J. Kazmierczak approached Omar and sprayed her with a liquid, setting off pandemonium before he was dragged away. The liquid was later determined to be apple cider vinegar, a harmless and common kitchen substance often used for salad dressings and marinades.

The incident allowed the Somalia-born congresswoman to play the victim as she constantly does. But the timely incident, which comes as Omar’s political party is winning the narrative battle over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), left many skeptical.

One X user noted that the reaction to the spraying was inconsistent with instructions from poison control on how to respond to being exposed to an unknown, and potentially toxic substance.

“Dear Ilhan Omar, I spoke with Poison Control. Their instructions were very clear and you didn’t follow any of them,” comedian
Terrence K. Williams wrote, listing everything that she should have done but didn’t, including getting to fresh air, not touching her face, removing contaminated clothing, rinsing skin and eyes, and most importantly, seeking medical attention.

“You didn’t do anything on this list because it was staged,” he said, accusing the America-hating foreign ingrate of fraud, something that is a specialty of the Somali community in her district.

Omar sprayed venom over the insinuation that she would do such a thing, also lobbing one of the f-bombs that her party now uses as a substitute for reasonable political discourse.

“I didn’t do any of those things because I fear losing my dignity more than I fear losing my life. Something you coward losers will never understand. So f**k off,” Omar replied.

But Omar’s defensive response only seemed to confirm the suspicions of other X users that she’s lying her hijab off.

“She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her,” President Donald J. Trump said when he was asked whether he had seen the video in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

When he was also asked about the spraying, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters that he has not seen “any evidence” to suggest that Omar was perpetrating a hoax.

“I don’t have any evidence to believe that’s true. Look, we deal with member security issues that arise. I called her, as I do any member who has a situation like that,” Johnson said at the Capitol on Thursday. “I talked with her briefly, I think she felt like she had adequate protection there, she continued her town hall.”
