Why does the NFL suck? Top league exec says that he’s ’embarrassed’ by America

One of the NFL’s top executives said that he’s so “embarrassed” by America that he stays holed up in his hotel room when he travels abroad, a prime example of the league’s slide into left-wing politics.

In recent remarks during a panel discussion at the Stimson Center, a foreign affairs think tank in Washington, D.C., NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent discussed the league and the 2028 Olympics, which are set to be held in Los Angeles, and the “global reputation” of America, admitting that he “stays in his hotel” while overseas.

“We’ve got this global reputation that just makes you — and I did it — stay in your hotel room, because you’re embarrassed. You don’t know what to say to people, because that’s my country. And this is how we’re acting. And we’re better than that. I know the people that’s in this room, we’re better than that. So I think about that L.A. piece, and go, ‘Man, how are we going to show up?’ We’ve got one chance, because it may not ever come back.”

There was a time when the NFL exemplified patriotism and was one of the nation’s most beloved institutions, but for the last decade or so, has become a “woke” shell of its former self.

While Vincent’s remarks have yet to draw much attention from the mainstream media, X users reacted to his fessing up about his lack of pride in America.

If you’re looking for another reason why so many fans now think that the NFL sucks, look no further than its executive offices and activists like Vincent.

A former star cornerback who played for the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles, Vincent assumed the top executive job in 2014 and has presided over a period of increased social justice activism from the league which has alienated longtime fans with its overt evangelizing for left-wing causes, particularly those involving race which became a part of the NFL brand during the Black Lives Matter era, the Colin Kaepernick-led protests of the national anthem, and especially in response to the George Floyd race riots.

Virtue signaling and sloganeering, as well as a plethora of new rules, including a bizarre change to the traditional kickoff, haven’t sat well with fans, and while the NFL has toned down the in-your-face white-shaming with “END RACISM” no longer prominently displayed in end zones, the Black National Anthem will surely be featured again at this year’s Super Bowl.

It will be interesting to see if Vincent walks back his remarks, with the NFL currently needing the Trump administration to sign off on its media merger with ESPN.
