Indiana University (IU) is sanctioning a professor after a civil rights investigation into complaints about comments disparaging white people, including fellow educators.
An investigation revealed School of Education assistant professor Marcus Croom created a “hostile educational environment” for white students after a former student filed a complaint with the university’s civil rights office, according to The Herald-Times. The student accused Croom of making several comments about not wanting to associate with white people and declaring “white teachers are white supremacists.”
The professor now faces a “level one” sanction as a result of the investigation that, after several interviews with other students, concluded that the “preponderance of evidence” supported the complainant’s claims, The Herald-Times reported. Croom’s job or salary will not be affected by the punishment, but he will be required to attend trainings on “inclusive teaching practices” and “respectful engagement with students of all backgrounds.”
The student’s appeal to issue Croom a higher level sanction was shot down by the school.
Indiana University did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
Many schools in recent years have adopted race-based policies that favor non-white students and staff in the name of “diversity.” A Harvard professor recently called out the university over its intentional exclusion of white men in a scathing resignation letter, blaming the school for abandoning merit in favor of diversity quotas and subsequently leaving exceptional candidates behind in hiring decisions if they did not have Harvard’s desired skin color or gender.
At other schools, professors have been exposed for portraying similar discriminatory behavior toward white students, including suggesting they are all racist.
