Newly released dashcam footage contradicts the leftist narrative of officers running over an anti-ICE protester.
Claims that a protester was run over by the Tennessee Highway Patrol during a demonstration in Memphis on Sunday were dispelled by dashcam footage from the patrol vehicle. This, after the department came under fire when clips surfaced online that appeared to show a “marshal” directing traffic at the protest, ending up under a police car. However, reality is much different than the conveniently cut clips found on social media:

“Claims circulating on social media that a person was hit by a THP trooper in Memphis are false. Video shows the individual holding the vehicle, lying down, then standing up and leaving on his own. Peaceful protest is protected. Entering active roadways is not and risks lives,” the video’s caption reads.
Indeed, the man who had been “run over” was seen acting like a goofball in front of the police vehicle, grabbing onto the guard in the front and slipping below the vehicle in what appears to be a totally voluntary move, before popping back up unscathed. At this point, he wanders over to a different vehicle and gets in the driver’s seat as the officer drives away.
“We respect and protect the right of people to protest peacefully. That right, however, does not include entering active roadways or placing themselves in danger,” reads a Facebook post by the department. “In this case, video clearly shows the individual holding onto the front of the trooper’s vehicle, lying down, then standing right back up afterwards and leaving the scene under his own power. At no point does the video show the individual being run over or injured, despite the narratives circulating on social media. Our priority is always public safety…for motorists, protesters and certainly our troopers.”
