Swalwell vows to target masked ICE agents, stripping thier drivers’ licenses if elected governor

Leftist California Rep. Eric Swalwell has vowed to target immigration officials and agents if he’s elected as California’s next governor.

Appearing this Tuesday on MS NOW, Swalwell pledged to “go on the offense” starting on day one.

“You have immense powers as governor of California, and your responsibility is to protect the most vulnerable in the state,” he began.

“So if the president is going to send ICE agents to chase immigrants through the fields where they work, what I’m going to do is make sure that they take off their masks and show their faces, that they show their identification,” the Democrat said.

“And if they commit crimes that they’re going to be charged with crimes, if it’s falsely imprisoning people, if it’s kidnapping, if assault, battery, they’re going to be held accountable. I also think if the governor has the ability to issue driver’s licenses to people in California, if you’re going to wear a mask and not identify yourself, you’re not going to be eligible to drive a vehicle in California,”  he added.

The remarks came a few months after current California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that bans U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from wearing masks while conducting immigration raids.

The bill went into effect on Jan. 1 and specifically prohibits “ski masks, balaclavas and other face coverings for local and federal law enforcement, as well as officials from other states operating in California,” according to Politico.

Newsom signed the bill despite leftists — the same types of people who celebrated Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk’s assassination and murder — being intent on doxxing ICE agents.

The Trump Department of Homeland Security has reportedly refused to comply with the law. The Department of Justice, meanwhile, sued in California on the grounds that the law oversteps constitutional authority.

“Law enforcement officers risk their lives every day to keep Americans safe, and they do not deserve to be doxed or harassed simply for carrying out their duties,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said at the time.

“California’s anti-law enforcement policies discriminate against the federal government and are designed to create risk for our agents. These laws cannot stand,” she continued.

The administration lost round one in December when U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder refused to grant the Trump administration a preliminary injunction against the law.

The next hearing is reportedly scheduled for Jan. 12:

Appearing on MS Now again this Friday, Swalwell also vowed to hold the Trump administration accountable if Democrats retake the House in November.

“On accountability, the truth is Republicans don’t think we have the balls to do it,” he said. “They think that we will be nice and modest and kind.”

But Republicans are apparently wrong.

“The truth is going to come out,” the Democrat lawmaker insisted. “We’re using the subpoena power. We’re seeking accountability. All the dirty deals that were done by law firms, by university presidents, by entertainment companies.”

“We are going to seek to understand all of it. We have the power to restrict funding if we need to. If we telegraph that now, we may not reverse the deals that were done in the past, but we may stop the next drug deal that the president is cooking up right now,” he added.
