Squatters swipe $2.3 million mansion in swanky DC suburb

Daily Caller News Foundation

Squatters have occupied a $2.3 million home in Bethesda, Maryland, leading to a lengthy legal fight in the upscale D.C. suburb, Baltimore-area Fox station WBFF reported Thursday.

Some states have begun cracking down on the squatters, with Florida cracking down days after a TikTok influencer put out a video telling people how to carry out the occupation of a vacant home. The alleged squatters, who neighbors identified as Tamieka Goode and Corey Pollard, moved in around the July 4th holiday, according to WBFF.

“We’ve heard about squatters in the news but never thought it would be next door to where we all grew up,” a resident of the neighborhood who went by James for the story told WBFF.

Neighbors had expected the $2.3 million home to be sold shortly, but instead, the property was foreclosed on by Citigroup Mortgage, now listed as the owners of the property, WBFF reported.

Some neighbors declined to be identified when they spoke to the Baltimore Fox affiliate, citing concerns for their safety. Some efforts to address squatters have turned violent, with two people being charged after they allegedly murdered a 52-year-old woman who tried to have them removed from her mother’s luxury New York City apartment.

Pollard has a criminal record, including charges of transporting stolen vehicles across state lines and heroin possession, WBFF reported. Pollard was arrested by local police on trespassing charges and is wanted by Pennsylvania for his involvement in the theft of multiple luxury cars from a Lancaster dealership.

Goode has missed at least one court appearance for burglary and trespassing charges, while Citigroup Mortgage has filed a suit to force her to leave the property, according to WBFF.

Squatters also took over a home in the neighborhood where Los Angeles Lakers star Lebron James lives, trashing a house and hosting numerous parties for a period of months before their departure.
