The First Family is preparing to add a new member after one of President Donald Trump’s sons announced a “big win for the end of the year” thanks to “one word” from his girlfriend.

A Christmas reception at the White House came with a surprise on Monday as the commander-in-chief had the opportunity to reveal he was expected to gain a new daughter-in-law. Joined on the State Floor by Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend, Bettina Anderson, the president shared that the couple was engaged to be married.

“Not often that I’m at a loss for words, ’cause we usually do the ranting and raving very well,” said the First Son as his father ceded the podium for a statement.

“But this is a little different,” continued Trump Jr, “I just wanna wish all of you guys an incredible holiday season, a Merry Christmas, a very happy New Year, and to thank Bettina for that one word, yes.”

Don Jr dropped the politics for a rare personal moment, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and revealing some big news:

“It’s almost — when you go down there, and it’s like, you’re gonna go, and you’re trying to ask, and you’re not sure what the answer’s gonna be. It’s almost a little bit rough, but she said yes,” he went on. “So that’s a big win for the end of the year.”

The eldest of the president’s children, Trump Jr., had previously been married to model Vanessa Haydon, the mother of his five children, from 2005 until their divorce in 2018. It was then that he began dating former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle. A New Year’s Eve 2020 engagement was not made public until over a year later, and the couple officially split in 2024, around the same time Trump Jr. was known to be in a relationship with Anderson.

The president said, “They get along very well, and they are just announcing through me that they’re getting married.”

Given her own chance to speak on Monday, the socialite began, “Wow, what a privilege it is to be here at the White House, Mr. President, thank you so much for hosting this incredible party, and to our First Lady, these decorations, am I right? Are they unbelievable?”

She went on to express, “This has really been the most unforgettable weekend of my life, and I get to marry the love of my life, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!”

Where it concerned his son’s previous loves, the president remained supportive. Guilfoyle was nominated to be U.S. Ambassador to Greece and was later sworn in as the first woman to hold that position at the end of September. As for Haydon, who retained the Trump name, it was confirmed in March that she was in a committed relationship with Tiger Woods mere weeks after the pro-golfer had been honored at the White House as part of a Black History Month ceremony.
