Eric Adams launches preemptive strike against Mamdani with two pro-Israel executive orders

Outgoing NYC Mayor Eric Adams launched a preemptive strike against the incoming communist mayor-elect.

Adams announced an executive order on Wednesday, which would prohibit the city from making business or pension investment decisions that would discriminate against Israel.

The executive order would counter the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, but is supported by incoming mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Adams’ second order seeks stricter NYC police protection for synagogues and other religious worshipers, Fox reported.

“This administration recognizes the benefit of maintaining a strong relationship between the city of New York and the state of Israel,” Adams said of the executive order event sponsored by the North American Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism in New Orleans on Wednesday.

The executive orders are seen as a way to pressure Mamdani into supporting or rescinding the orders.

They also come a week after protesters swarmed a synagogue on the Upper East Side, yelling disturbing chants like “death to the IDF” and “globalize the intifada.”

Last month, Mamdani explained his support for the BDS movement, claiming it will pressure Israel to comply with international law.

“And I’ve said, I support BDS because this is a movement that is looking for that kind of compliance. We haven’t seen it,” he said during an MSNBC interview on Nov. 4, Fox reported.

Adams found both support and pushback on X:
